Overview

Utah State University's Inclusion Center is hiring a Program Coordinator I to develop and implement various programs, events, and activities that promote students' academic success, retention, graduation, and post-secondary success.

 

The Inclusion Center at Utah State University supports student success at the Logan campus through holistic and inclusive student-centered programming that enhances the academic persistence, personal growth, and social experiences of undergraduate students. In addition, the following student clubs are advised through the Inclusion Center: Asian Student Association, Black Student Union, Pasifika Student Union, Queer Student Alliance, and Women and Gender Issues Society.

 

The Program Coordinator I will serve as the primary advisor for two to three of the Inclusion Center-sponsored clubs, create comprehensive learning opportunities, and oversee all aspects of programming to promote personal and professional growth for students. This position also serves as a resource connection for students, creating pathways for both on-campus and community engagement. The incumbent will work collaboratively with campus partners to develop student leadership trainings, connection with peer and faculty mentors, as well as track data and compile end-of-year impact reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one comprehensive support and advising to Inclusion Centered sponsored clubs, including acting as a liaison with campus partners, holding clubs accountable for following university policies as well as their club constitution, attending club events and meetings
  • Meet with Inclusion Center students face-to-face to discuss personal well-being at school, school information (i.e-Financial Aid, career assessments, upcoming activities, school clubs, tutoring options, registration, etc.), game plans for improvement, and any other help needed.
  • Record each visit with individual students tracking progress, grades, mental/emotional needs, completing data entry, and any follow-up with other support staff as necessary.
  • Develop, implement, and assess all aspects of programs that support the academic, social, and personal integration of the students at USU for an educationally enriching college experience and success.
  • Organize student-focused programming and resources to promote new and ongoing initiatives such as our Professional Development Lunch and Learn Series and Academic Power Hour programming.
  • Create, maintain, and oversee a marketing strategy and communication plan for the Center, ensuring effective communications and updates, including broad promotion of programs, student-facing communications, newsletter, box, website, etc.
  • Generate and analyze reports of programmatic outcomes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert regarding student affairs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve on committees for university-wide events.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree plus two years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.

  • Experience providing student support on an individual, confidential basis.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering quality programming and services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using web and graphic design software.
  • Understanding of educational barriers for incoming and current student populations.
  • Education or experience in public relations/marketing.
  • Experience with online outreach.
  • Experience in program evaluation, assessment, and working with data.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to prioritize own work, take initiative and multi-task, taking ownership of a project with little oversight.
  • Excellent organizational skills allowing to manage multiple meetings, plan and facilitate workshops and events, and collect and input data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Knowledge of computers and database/spreadsheet/word processing software.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, and/or the public in a professional team environment. Ability to demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and customers.
  • Ability to gather, input, and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Project specific knowledge, skills, and abilities as described in recruitment notices.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision making, problem solving, and discretion as work is varied and may be undefined.
