Overview

The Department of Technology, Design, and Technical Education (TDTE) at Utah State University (USU) seeks candidates for the Custom Fit regional coordinator position. This position (Program Coordinator II) is a full-time, exempt staff position. The successful candidate will oversee all the administrative and operational activities of the Custom Fit programs in Carbon, Emery, Grand, and San Juan Counties. The coordinator may supervise other employees including but not limited to custom fit specialists, administrative assistants, student workers, and part-time employees. The coordinator will work closely with other regional CF coordinators, specialists, and directors from around the State and will coordinate relevant activities internally within the Utah State University Eastern, Moab, and Blanding campuses and relevant USU departments.

 

This position is located on the USU Eastern Campus in Price, Utah and is not eligible for telework. Review of applications will begin in early June 2024, and application reviews and interviews will continue until the position is filled.

 

The anticipated starting date for this position is early July 2024. 

Responsibilities

The Custom Fit (CF) regional coordinator will oversee the administrative and operational activities for the Southeast region CF program. The Southeast Region includes Carbon, Emery, and San Juan Counties in Utah.  As CF coordinator, the successful candidate will conduct industry job/training needs analysis and establish training agreements to address those needs. The coordinator will plan and design performance-based training for companies and industries located in Southeastern Utah and will coordinate with instructors to develop and deliver the training which is identified in customized training plans. The coordinator will be responsible for generating program records to comply with state and institutional requirements, processes, procedures, and reporting.

  • 70% Training and Education – Coordinate and promote training and educational programs for local business owners.  Proactively work with small business to create training plans that help a company keep a highly trained work force.  Conduct training needs assessments. 
  • 15% Administration – Prepare and submit required USU and CF documentation as well as controlling budget, setting goals, managing center employees, and following established priorities and procedures.
  • 10% Networking – Establish and maintain strong community relations with local economic development partners, financial service institutions, business service providers, and local businesses.
  • 5% Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Combination of education and experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with a minimum of two years’ experience in coordinating training programs and/or post-secondary education instruction; or,
    • Associate degree in business or related field with a minimum of four years’ experience in coordinating training programs and/or post-secondary education instruction. 
  • Experience in daily office and/or project management.  
  • Experience in basic accounting and database use. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, social media, and web-based marketing programs.
  • Willingness to work to improve professional effectiveness and personal technical skills.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team; individual needs are subordinate to team goals. 
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, and team-building skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and an ability to build rapport with a culturally diverse workforce in a multicultural setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to coordinate, develop, and deliver educational/training programs.
  • Verbal and written communication skills and effective public speaking skills including ability to communicate with individuals as well as groups.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands and changing needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work with individuals and businesses in both 1:1 and group settings.
  • Ability to learn and maintain current knowledge of complex program requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in a variety of current and emerging technology platforms.
