Overview

Utah State University Brigham City is looking for an engaging individual to work in our child development lab preschool. This dynamic person will create fun and innovative lessons that teach children. They will help ensure a positive atmosphere and help children feel valued. They will ensure that proper learning developmentally appropriate activities are available to children that enroll. The child development lab runs both fall and spring semesters and is typically open for four (8am-12pm) hours per day.

Responsibilities

Ensure that the child development lab runs smoothly by developing interesting lessons that are developmentally appropriate for children’s abilities.

  • Work with the director to provide the best learning environment possible, maintain necessary accreditation standards, complete reports, and handle inspections.
  • Work with USU students and help them learn the best practices in early childhood learning.
  • Create a positive environment for parents, children, and college students in the preschool
  • Maintain proper education standards for students and to demonstrate proper teaching techniques to student teachers.
  • Oversee safety requirements and ensure a safe experience for kids.
  • Help maintain the outdoor play area.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on center needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree (preferred but not required)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Positive personality that is inviting and engaging
  • Strong customer service background, experience, or knowledge with the ability to apply those skills in creating positive experiences while interacting with others
  • Experience working with young children in an education setting
  • Responsive, creative, and able to work independently without strong oversight
  • Great organizational skills to ensure the smooth operation of the development lab

This position requires moderate physical effort.  Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 25 pounds, walking and standing.  Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
