Overview

If hired as an Early Intervention service provider, you will be trained to play a key role in the South East Early Intervention Program, serving children birth to three with disabilities and/or developmental delays in Emery, Carbon, and Grand counties. We seek someone who will be a reflective and collaborative provider with an understanding of early child development, and a passion for working on behalf of the healthy development of children and their caregivers. Your home office will be located on the Utah State University Eastern campus in Price with access to campus amenities.


South East Early Intervention Program (SEEIP) operates under Utah State University’s Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice (IDRPP). SEEIP is one of 14 early intervention programs of the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Baby Watch Early Intervention Program.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an early intervention service provider to assigned early intervention families particularly those children with diagnosed or suspected autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Administer and interpret developmental evaluations and screeners and family assessments as assigned. Administer the Battelle Developmental Inventory standardized assessment
  • Implement the Pyramid training with fidelity
  • Lead parent & infant/toddler group activities.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in the team determination of eligibility for early intervention services.
  • Collaborate with all interested parties to develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for each child who qualifies for services.
  • Provide early intervention services to infants and toddlers and their families via in-person and/or virtual visits in the family’s home or other community setting.
  • Provide support to parents to address child and family needs by providing education, information and resources through a coaching service delivery model. Tailor the family service plan to meet the individual needs of each family by developing strategies to build on family concerns, priorities and resources.
  • Enter complete, accurate, and timely documentation in the Baby Watch data system for each of the children on your caseload
  • Maintain effective working relationships with SEEIP staff and related agencies
  • Accept other job-related assignments as assigned by Program Coordinator
  • Attend workshops, trainings, and staff meetings as directed
  • Review and monitor child files for compliance and completeness

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 

  • Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a federal background check

  • Have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.

  • Receive on-the-job training to complete the Utah Baby Watch Early Intervention Specialist Credential within 6 months of hire. 

  • Access to reliable transportation necessary for traveling to clients homes. Mileage will be reimbursed for use of a personal vehicle.

  • A history of dependability, organizational skills, and initiative. 

  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to work occasional irregular hours.

This position requires moderate physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. This position requires nearly continuous standing and reaching overhead. Employees must be able to negotiate stairs and uneven walking surfaces. Employees may frequently need to sit for extended periods of time and use repetitive hand motions (such as typing). Employees may be exposed to unusual elements including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The employee may be exposed to some environmental health risks common to family homes, such as pets and secondhand smoke. Employees must be able to play actively with children on the floor.

The CPD was established in 1972, and was the first UCEDD program in the U.S. to focus on the educational and social needs of children and adults with disabilities. The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee for service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
