Overview

Are you organized, detail-oriented multitasker who can excel at providing support to a team? If so, the Utah State University Nursing Department needs you as a Staff Assistant II! In this role, you will assist with daily office operations, and play a critical role in keeping our office a positive, welcoming, and productive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct faculty, students, and departmental visitors, both in person and on the phone.
  • Open and close the department office each day; maintain a welcoming, professional atmosphere with orderly functioning of the department office.
  • Perform office duties including filing, appointment scheduling, taking and relaying messages; provide information and follow-up.
  • Maintain confidentiality, and work cohesively with staff and faculty on departmental activities, including routine projects and special events. Manage time well and work independently.
  • High-quality oral and writing skills, including editing for content, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Prepare, gather, and maintain records for program functions including student applications, faculty hiring, and projects.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks and general duties as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Two years of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/vocational training is required.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Knowledge of USU's Banner system

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), page layout or design programs, video editing, mail merge, webpage maintenance, and databases
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely, effective, and detail-oriented manner
  • Effective organization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and use discretion
  • Good understanding of the English language
  • Excellent proofreading, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive, customer-service friendly attitude
