Overview

Support the goals and vision of Utah State University Maintenance Department by carrying out repairs and modifications to campus equipment and facilities that will improve safety, quality, and productivity and prolong the useful life of University assets

Responsibilities

  • Assist all members with repairs or modifications to University equipment or property according to requirements prioritized by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, such as but not limited to: engines, motors, air and water systems; using schematics, diagrams, sketches, manufacturer's repair specifications and tools such as hand tools, power tools, hoists and forklift trucks.
  • Responsible for completing preventative maintenance routines and taking corrective action as needed.
  • Responsible for University-wide maintenance requirements, report or recommend needed steps or, in the case of emergencies, take necessary action.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations as per OSHA and University standards. 
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • Must be willing to actively participate in continuous improvement activities.  
  • Must be willing to work as part of a team. 
  • Must be able to work required overtime as needed.

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects.  Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
