Overview

The Trademark Assistant (Program Assistant II) works with internal and external parties to organize the various components needed to initiate, run, and complete projects for the University Marketing & Communications, Trademark Licensing Office. Projects will primarily focus on trademark licensing programs, infringement, social media, artwork review, training on brand standards, and trademark renewals for the university.

Responsibilities

  • Manage trademark licensing social media accounts.
    • Create content, respond to direct messages, manage weekly giveaways, post promotions, etc.
  • Assist with the management of trademark infringement reporting.
    • Review websites, social media, Etsy, Red Bubble, etc., and report infringing products.
    • Review of Utah-registered LLCs to ensure trademark infringement is addressed.
  • Assist the Director of Trademark Licensing in ensuring compliance with university standards, policies, and state and federal laws to protect the integrity of the university's visual brand and trademarks.
  • Communicate with internal and external audiences regarding university brand standards.
  • Assists with the implementation of policies and procedures for the treatment of trademarks and logo management.
  • Assists with the execution of various marketing strategies to advance the university’s brand presence and licensing program.
    • Assists with marketing campaigns such as True Blue Aggie Friday, Aggie Made, and other programs as assigned.
  • Assist the Director with internal enforcement of the university’s trademark rights,
  • Provide training to educate the university community on the importance of the university’s visual brand standards.
    • Assist with strategies for the cultivation of relations with internal departments and divisions.
  • Assist with the management of internal consumption business and artwork review.
  • Assist the Director of Trademark Licensing with administrative support and various other duties as assigned.
  • Assists with the planning and preparation of special events, as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience or an associate degree/technical training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management programs. Ability to quickly solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in all formats: verbal, presentation, email, and written documents.
  • Ability to exercise considerable individual judgment and initiative in coordinating projects within the division.
  • Ability to conduct presentations on trademark licensing opportunities.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data to measure the viability of potential and existing trademark licensing programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining command of details, timelines, and next steps, and work cooperatively with others.
