Overview

Come join our high trust, highly engaged and impactful Human Resources team as an Organizational Development and Training Specialist. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in providing programs and initiatives that drive and support the university-wide development strategies. This role will support leadership development through training and coaching, facilitating process improvement and design sessions, analyzing data and make recommendations, and developing strategies to enhance culture and engagement.

This position will report directly to the Director of Organizational Development and Training and will work closely with the other training team members in Human Resources. This position will be hired as either an Organizational Development and Training Specialist III or IV, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

Leadership Development and Training:

  • Designing and leading leadership development trainings, team development activities, conflict resolution workshops, and Support the implementation and execution of learning programs.

Process Improvement:

  • Lead and facilitate improvement activities which are strategically aligned with the organizational goals using accepted improvement methodologies including measurement, analysis, development of improvement plan, and the reporting of the improvement results.

Complex Change Management:

  • Facilitating major organizational transformations, including managing stakeholder expectations, communicating change effectively, and providing support to employees during transition periods.

Coaching and Development:

  • Providing high-level coaching and mentoring to leaders on leadership behaviors, decision-making, and performance improvement.

Data-Driven Insights:

  • Utilizing data analytics to assess the effectiveness of organizational development initiatives, identify trends, and inform future strategies.

Culture Transformation:

  • Actively shaping and influencing organizational culture to foster a positive work environment that aligns with company values and goals. Support the onboarding program, leadership development program, performance management program, and other HR and/or organizational development initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • For both levels
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Training and Development, or a closely related field of work; or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • Organizational Development and Training Specialist III:
    • 5+ years of experience in training and development, process improvement, or human resources or related fields.
  • Organizational Development and Training Specialist IV:
    • 8+ years of experience in training and development, process improvement, or human resources or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in organizational development, training and development, instructional design, human resources, business administration, education or a closely related field of work.
  • Working knowledge and experience of lean or design thinking.
  • 2+ years of Leadership experience (formal or informal) or leadership coaching experience
  • 2+ years of experience in organizational development facilitation
  • Previous experience working at a university or in higher education

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Design thinking or process improvement
  • Plan, design, implement, and conduct training to a diverse level of management and employees
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Use reason and de-escalation skills to manage difficult or emotional situations
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (e.g. Absorb)
  • Experience with basic data analysis
  • Knowledge of DISC, Strengths Finders, or other assessments
  • Knowledge of change management models (e.g. ADKAR)
