Overview

Utah State University Extension invites applications for an Extension Coordinator to support Utah 4-H's statewide growth and outreach strategies. This position reports to the State 4-H Program Leader and is an active member of the Utah 4-H State Support Team. It plays a key role in expanding youth participation and aligning program outcomes with statewide goals in leadership, civic engagement, and workforce readiness.

 

The Program Coordinator will help implement recruitment and retention strategies, coordinate with teen ambassador groups, and support faculty and county coordinators through tools, training, and relationship-building with schools, cities, and other youth-serving organizations. This in-person role is based in Logan, Utah, and requires in-state travel.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Utah 4-H program and county-based coordinators in executing Utah's Beyond Ready growth strategy quadrants.
  • Coordinate with State and Project Ambassadors to amplify peer-to-peer outreach and promote youth engagement efforts, including county ambassadors.
  • Develop and share recruitment toolkits, messaging guides, and engagement templates with faculty and county 4-H staff.
  • Strengthen local partnerships by building connections with schools, Youth City Councils (YCC), municipalities, and community organizations.
  • Promote participation in leadership and skill-building programs through outreach events, sponsor-supported contests, and civic experiences.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as enrollment growth, new partnerships, and county participation in campaign tools.
  • Collaborate with marketing and development staff to create campaign assets, highlight impact stories, and support sponsor engagement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree plus two years of related work experience; or a bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with youth programs, outreach campaigns, or community partnerships.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic statewide team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling six years is preferred.
  • Familiarity with social marketing principles or behavior-based recruitment strategies.
  • Experience in Extension, 4-H, or other youth development organizations.
  • Ability to engage and support teen leaders or youth ambassadors in a collaborative capacity.
