Overview

The Program of Nursing Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) is hiring a Clinical Instructor.

Responsibilities

REPORTS TO:
The NATCEP program director, the classroom instructor, and the director of UNAR.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Cooperate with the program director and/or classroom instructor in scheduling clinical experiences for students.
  2. Supervises small groups of no more than 12 nurse aide students who are paired 1:1 with facility CNAs in the clinical setting. Facility Administrators at each clinical site will dictate the number of students.
  3. Remains on premises and available to students at all times.
  4. Has no facility-related responsibilities.
  5. Actively seeks opportunities for students to perform learned skills.
  6. Provides guidance and constructive feedback to students.
  7. Maintains student attendance rolls, including a sign-in and sign-out sheet with exact time of arrival and departure from clinical.
  8. May occasionally substitute for the classroom instructor upon notification to UNAR.
  9. Provides feedback to training program instructors regarding students’ readinessfor performance during clinical experience, identifying potential weaknesses andareas of strength of training provided prior to clinical.
  10. Performs other related duties as requested by the program director, classroom instructor, or the director of the UNAR.

Qualifications

STATE ADMINISTRATIVE RULE R432-45 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a licensed nurse with an active license to practice nursing and be in good standing with the Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL).
  • Have a minimum of two years of (licensed) nursing experience; at least one year must be in the provision of nursing care facility services or caring for the elderly or caring for the chronically ill of any age.
  • Must have completed a UNAR-approved train-the-trainer program or demonstrate competence to teach students.

UNAR APPROVAL REQUIREMENTS (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Completion of the UNAR New Instructor Approval packet.
  • Licensed nurse in good standing with the DOPL.
  • A resume documenting two years of (licensed) nursing experience; explicitly detailing at least one year of experience in the provision of nursing care facility services, caring for the elderly, or caring for the chronically ill of any age.
  • Documentation of a UNAR-approved train-the-trainer program or documentation of demonstrated competence to teach adult learners.
  • High School Instructors must meet all Utah State Board of Education requirements.

Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of fingerprinting and a background check as per the Direct Access Clearance System (DACS) requirement.
