The Department of Environment and Society (ENVS) at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for two term appointment faculty teaching positions (Lecturer or Professional Practice Assistant Professor) to support a new program in Remote Sensing and Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI). We seek candidates who can holistically apply innovative GeoAI methods such as machine and deep learning, multidimensional data analysis, and big data visualization to natural resource applications. Teaching areas may include remote sensing, GeoAI applications in natural resources, geospatial programming courses in Python, ethics related to geospatial data and artificial intelligence, Google Earth Engine, and geovisualization techniques specific to remote sensing. These two non-tenure-track, full-time academic-year (nine-month) faculty positions are based at the USU main campus in Logan. The emphasis for each position is 95% teaching and 5% service. The duties of the Assistant Athletic Trainer include prevention of athletic injuries, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, and health care administration duties. The Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences at Utah State University (USU) is seeking applicants for a 12-month (fiscal year) tenure-track faculty position in Food Animal Production that will contribute to the Extension (70%), Teaching (25%), and Service (5%) missions of the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CAAS) at USU. The successful candidate will be responsible for statewide educational and service programs that support small acreage or small-scale animal production operations (e.g., annual gross cash farm income <$350,000), focusing on livestock meat production, such as beef cattle, sheep, goats, and swine. These programs and support services should address needs in managing animal health, welfare, nutrition, and reproduction, as well as managing farm operations (e.g., sustainable practices, waste handling, new technologies, and operation scaling). The successful candidate will also develop programs and engage in outreach to help these producers meet growing market demands through fostering innovation, promoting entrepreneurship, creating value-added products, and expanding niche markets for the livestock industry. In addition to conducting educational outreach programs through traditional channels such as seminars, workshops, one-on-one consultations, Extension Fact Sheets, and bulletins/handbooks, newer methodologies should be utilized, such as distance education (e.g., interactive video conferencing) or electronic/social media (e.g., blogs, webinars, developing and expanding online learning courses/tools, etc.) to broaden the impact and reach of Extension training. The incumbent will be expected to remain current with innovations relevant to food animal production – particularly livestock – including interpretation of original research involving reproduction, breeding/genetics, nutrition, management, economics, etc., and determine how such novel information applies to small-scale Utah agricultural animal producers.    Excellence in teaching and mentorship is highly valued at USU. The successful candidate will be expected to teach ADVS courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Utah State University seeks a talented full-time Assistant Professor and State Extension Specialist in Food Safety. The position will be academically housed in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. The position is offered as a 0.917 full-time equivalent 12-month tenure-track Assistant Professor rank with a split appointment of 70% Extension, 25% Teaching, and 5% Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and conducting extension activities and programming addressing the processing and manufacture of safe food in Utah, especially as related to the meat and dairy industries to support the state’s major commodity producers. The successful candidate will be assigned to teach online courses in the area of food safety and toxicology that support the Food Science and Master of Food Safety and Quality programs, and mentorship of MFSQ students in applied practice experiences. The Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University seeks a professional practice assistant professor to teach motion design in our Graphic Design Master of Arts Program. This is an academic-year (9-month), term appointment position to begin August of 2024.  USU currently has a thriving graphic design program housed within the Department of Art and Design that offers competitive Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees, with current graduates securing employment with leading design studios, agencies and organizations across the US. USU’s graphic design program is also proud to host the Hashimoto Communication Arts Seminar, one of oldest and strongest visiting designer/artist programs in the country. The seminar is over 50-years old and hosts over 15 lecturers and visiting designers/artists from across the US each year. USU’s Graphic Design Master of Arts degree concentration is a three-semester program extension of a BFA in Graphic-Design that focuses on the use of emerging technology to explore contemporary forms of time-based visual expression. Students will focus on design strategies for film, broadcast and advertising, digital media/film theory, narrative story-telling and advanced studies in two-dimensional and three-dimensional motion design methodology and technology. The program is open to all applicants with a BFA, or equivalent, in graphic design. The Department of Veterinary Clinical and Life Sciences (VCLS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Utah State University (USU) is seeking applicants for a fiscal year, tenure track or professional practice Assistant or Associate Professor of Veterinary Clinical Skills Instruction position with the assignment of 70% teaching, 25% research and 5% service (for tenure-track); or 95% teaching and 5% service (for professional practice). The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024. Review of applications will begin January 1, 2024, and continue until position has been filled.   This candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of veterinary professionals by providing them with the practical knowledge and skills to excel in their careers. The candidate is expected to design, develop, and deliver hands-on clinical skills and reasoning courses in the new Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree curriculum; to develop and implement innovative teaching methodologies, assessment tools, and evaluation criteria to measure veterinary students’ clinical skills proficiency; and to contribute to other curriculum activities associated with their expertise. Courses to be developed include skills such as physical examinations, diagnostic procedures, surgical techniques, and anesthesia management.   Currently, the USU CVM participates in a “2+2” program with the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University and the broader Washington – Idaho – Montana – Utah (WIMU) Regional Program in Veterinary Medicine that provides instruction to 30 students in each class cohort. However, in 2022 the State of Utah approved the establishment of a full 4-year DVM degree program at USU with the goal of admitting its inaugural class of 40 students in the fall of 2025 and supporting a class size of 80 veterinary students in subsequent years. The Department of Wildland Resources (WILD) in the S.J. & Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources (QCNR) at Utah State University (USU) seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor to serve as the Extension Specialist in Urban Forestry for Utah.  The position will be based on the main USU campus in Logan, Utah, and will also have access to the USU Extension Office at the USU Botanical Center in Kaysville, Utah, which houses Utah’s largest Arboretum. The anticipated (but negotiable) start date is August 1, 2024. The emphasis for the position is 90% Extension, 10% Service.  The position may be filled as: 1) A tenure-track Assistant Professor for a fiscal year reduced FTE (0.83 FTE or 10 months) position, with the successful candidate encouraged to write grants to support an additional 0.17 FTE.  This position would require a PhD. Candidates in a  PhD program who are ABD may be hired at the rank of Instructor if conferral of degree is expected within the year. 2) A Professional Practice Assistant Professor at 1.0 FTE. This position would require a M.S. degree and extensive professional work experience related to urban forestry.  In either appointment, the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and is anticipated to be between $60,000 and $80,000. A basic annual operations budget will also be provided and can be augmented through grantwriting. Key areas of expertise will include urban and wildland-urban interface forestry, arboriculture, disease and risk management, water-wise landscaping, greenspace management, and horticulture. We anticipate that the person in this position may also be involved in urban planning efforts which consider broad social access to tree cover and carbon sequestration issues related to urban forestry. The incumbent will be encouraged to collaborate with research and Extension faculty in the Departments of Wildland Resources (particularly extension specialists in forestry and wildland fire) and Environment and Society in QCNR and the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. The incumbent will coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to identify and implement programs such as Utah Forestry Fire and State Lands urban forestry initiatives, Utah Division of Water Resources conservation programs, U. S.
