Reporting program progress and impacts is an essential part of this work. Familiarity with SNAP procedures and local community food distribution sites is desirable. USU Eastern Upward Bound is a federally funded grant program designed to encourage post-secondary preparation of high school students who are from low-income families and are first-generation college bound students. We serve 60 high school students from Grand, Emery and Carbon counties. During a six-week summer program, 30 Upward Bound students experience intensive academic, cultural and social expansion while living in the residence halls at USU Eastern. The residential team leader will help supervise 4-6 high school students throughout the week and overnight in the residence halls. They will act as mentors and supervisors to the participants of the Upward Bound Summer Program. The summer program will begin approximately June 22- July 5 and extend to approximately August 13. Team Leaders will be asked to come for two days of some training before the start of the program – dates to be determined once all parties are hired. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity and responsibility to accompany the Upward Bound students on various adventures, and will be required to attend our end of the year trip. This year we will be going to Glenwood Springs, CO. All expenses for these trips are included in your compensation and will not cost you anything. All food and housing is included for the duration of the six-week summer program. We are seeking 5 female team leaders. Job offer contingent upon successfully passed background check.

The Department of Geosciences at Utah State University seeks a Laboratory Manager to oversee existing analytical laboratories that support our research and teaching missions. This is a full-time, 12-month, hard-money, benefited, non-tenure track appointment. The primary duties include operating and maintaining the light stable isotope laboratory and the ICP-MS laboratory, which are overseen by PIs Dennis Newell and Donald Penman, respectively. The stable isotope laboratory houses a Thermo Scientific Delta V Advantage IRMS with peripheries including a ConFlo IV, Gasbench II, Thermo Scientific TC/EA, and a Costech ECS 4010 Elemental Analyzer. The ICP-MS lab houses a new Agilent 8900 Triple Quadrupole ICP mass spectrometer. These facilities are directly supported by two geochemical lab spaces with fume hoods, analytical balances, ovens, and associated glassware for wet chemistry and general sample preparation.
