Overview

Utah State University’s Technology, Design, and Technical Education department is seeking a full-time lecturer or professional practice assistant professor to support the Business Technology Technical Certificate program at the Eastern campus in Price, Utah. Beginning in August 2026, this non-tenure‑track role carries a 95% teaching and 5% service appointment. The faculty member will play a key role in the initiation and implementation of successful business classes that align with technical certificates and stack into associate and bachelor’s degree programs, and will be expected to contribute to sustainable enrollment in the classes they teach. The department will transition to the School of Professional and Technical Education in the upcoming academic year. Review of applications will begin on April 10, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.

Responsibilities

  • Will serve as part of the Business program team and will be responsible for collaborating with other instructors of the team.
  • Ensure that the assigned Business classes are held in compliance with all federal regulations, University and State rules, and departmental policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student attendance and skill development.
  • Teach courses as per the program curriculum and schedule.
  • Deliver classroom instruction and foster a positive learning environment for students.
  • Collaborate with CTE Pathway Programs for student recruitment efforts.
  • Availability to teach morning, afternoon, evening, online, hybrid, and off-campus classes, when scheduled, as part of the regular teaching assignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with students, staff, peers, and administrators clearly, effectively, and professionally in both oral and written form.
  • Commitment to working with administrators, faculty, and staff to increase support and success for students.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and a variety of teaching modalities, including distance education.
  • Participate in program and subject area improvement tasks, such as assessing Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
  • Meet deadlines for submittal of syllabi, census rosters, and grades

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Earned MS or MA, or higher in Business, or a closely related field (completed by date of appointment). Two or more years of teaching experience.

- OR -

    • Earned MS or MA, or higher in Business, or a closely related field (completed by date of appointment). Five or more years of industry experience working with a company or companies in the field of Business operations, communications, finance, accounting, entrepreneurialism, or similar activities.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, and team skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to succeed in teaching at the university level and a willingness to work to become a better instructor.
  • An ability to accommodate varying student learning needs through experiential lab and hands-on learning, lecture, self-directed learning, online
  • learning, and capstone projects.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of online learning systems, such as Canvas or equivalent.
  • Cultural sensitivity and an ability to build rapport with a culturally diverse workforce in a multicultural setting.
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and a commitment as a team member; ability to foster consensus and collaboration.
  • Strong desire to help students succeed.

  • Prior higher education teaching experience
