Overview

Performs installation, repair, and maintain of the landscaping and grounds, train and supervise personnel, manage the daily activities of the landscaping department, and ensure customer satisfaction around USU Housing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees day to day activities of landscape/grounds keeping employees with an emphasis on "hands on" education in best horticultural & arboricultural practices.
  • Assists in personnel issues, including hiring, termination, performance evaluations, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
  • Assists in management of budgets.
  • Assists in monitoring employee work schedules.
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels.
  • Enforces proper care and safe use of the equipment and supplies.
  • Purchases landscaping supplies to include equipment, plant material, tools, fertilizers, pesticide and related landscape materials.
  • Trains and supervises the landscape/grounds keeping staff to maintain an orderly, safe, and efficient grounds operation.
  • Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Assists supervisor in various duties, including maintenance and monitoring of various records and reports, inventory control, and purchasing supplies.
  • Ensures customers' needs and expectations are met by participating in the timely completion of work and responding to inquiries from the Housing community and the public.
  • Maintains irrigation systems of all Housing grounds including installation and maintenance and repair of pipes, valves and related equipment.
  • Manages the watering schedules for all Housing grounds.
  • Performs snow removal, litter pick-up, leaf removal, weeding, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Six years of experience in the green industry; or an associate degree/technical training in a related field plus four years of experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related field plus two years of experience is required.
