Overview

The Business Services team in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business is accepting applications for a Business Manager I. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Financial Officer in the Huntsman School of Business. The Business Manager will oversee activities such as travel and p-card reviews/approvals, cash clearing, scholarship processing, faculty hiring, reconciliations, journal entries and financial reviews, and other duties as assigned. The position requires organizational skills and needs to be able to work independently as well as be a team player. This position may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule (see USU policy 3008).

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a primary resource and business consultant to the Department Heads, center directors, faculty, staff, and business assistant in the Huntsman School.
  • Oversees and manages daily activities and transactions within assigned area, including p-card, financial banner, travel, and personnel processes.
  • Performs functions such as budget preparation, budget reconciliation, and fiscal information support.
  • Trains, guides, and mentor business services staff as assigned.
  • Maintains annual budgets using proper accounting/budgeting methods.
  • Works with department heads, dean, and Provost’s office to coordinate new faculty hires.
  • Reconcile the Shingo Institute’s financial records in Quickbooks.
  • Manages the cash clearing functions for the college and helps maintain cash controls.
  • Coordinates and implements financial/management systems such as Service Now, Banner, and Argos.
  • Processes tuition awards, scholarships, scholarship fund code and other miscellaneous scholarship requests.
  • Communicates and coordinates with other colleges and departments within and outside USU regarding financial matters.
  • Reconciles and reviews financial statements to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business field or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Quickbooks Software.
  • Experience with USU Financial Systems, such as Service Now, Argos, and Banner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of finance enterprise systems and software.
  • Computer skills, including Excel and Windows.
  • Knowledge of management reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
  • Knowledge of procedures used in the financial field.
  • Ability to train and lead staff.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Skilled in budget preparation and fiscal management.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
