Overview

The San Juan County Office of Utah State University Extension is seeking a qualified individual to fill an After-school Teacher Position. As an After-school Teacher, you will be required to assist the After-school Coordinator and Educators who are providing 4-H After-school clubs for students at Blanding Elementary School. The after-school Teacher will need to be available Monday-Thursday 3:00 pm-6:00 pm for the entire 22-23 academic school year. The position will pay $25 per hour for up to 10hrs per week. This position can also be continued into the Blanding Elementary Summer School program for up to 16 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in connection with Blanding Elementary School activities.
  • Provide guidance for educators on age appropriate educational 4-H clubs participating youth.
  • The teacher will work with the After-school Program Coordinator to identify the best intervention strategies and use the diagnostic tools provided by the San Juan School District to evaluate and aid struggling students.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group interaction for struggling youth when needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified/Licensed teacher.
  • Work effectively with youth, families, and school.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-Starter, good with follow-through.
  • Ability to problem solve with youth.
  • Job offer contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth.
  • Past experience in the 4-H Program as a youth or volunteer.
  • Skills related to STEM and other after-school subject matter.

This position requires moderate physical effort. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 25 pounds, walking and standing. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
