Overview

The Part-Time Custodial Service Representative plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of campus buildings.

This position involves a variety of duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming dormitories, classrooms, hallways, stairs, restrooms, and office spaces. Responsibilities also include emptying trash containers, cleaning carpets, walls, and windows to ensure a pristine environment. Additionally, the Service Representative will promptly report any maintenance issues such as lighting, doors, or plumbing systems to their supervisor. Furthermore, they are responsible for clearing snow and debris from sidewalks and building entrances to ensure safe access for all occupants. Flexibility to perform other assigned duties is essential in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of dormitories, hallways, classrooms, stairs, restrooms, and office spaces through meticulous sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
  • Maintain the appearance and condition of carpets, walls, and windows by performing regular cleaning and upkeep.
  • Promptly report any maintenance issues related to lighting, doors, and plumbing systems to the supervisor for timely resolution.
  • Take responsibility for clearing snow and debris from sidewalks and building entrances to ensure safe access for all occupants during inclement weather.
  • Flexibly adapt to additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the campus environment.

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects.  Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
