Overview

The Transaction Specialist (Business Assistant II) functions as one member of a team of highly motivated, collaborative and dedicated professionals whose primary responsibility is to serve as a resource and advocate for the departments of USU's Division of Student Affairs. They will provide support to Business Services staff by performing bookkeeping and accounting tasks including providing accounting clerical support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel, students' accounts and/or general accounting sections. Duties are performed predominately to support the major accounting activities and functions of the University or a regional campus.

Responsibilities

  • Process level 200 receipts
  • Process level 10 receipts when needed
  • Invoices for accounts receivable
  • Mange after awarding for division scholarships
  • Assist with division asset tracking
  • Process salary re-allocations
  • Complete termination EPAFs
  • Compete I-9 process with employees
  • Report taxable gifts
  • Process travel encumbrance report
  • Book travel arrangements with travelers
  • Receives and records monies from third party payers
  • Prepares journal entries
  • Run and distribute (to dept and finance specialist) weekly receipt reports for all departments
  • Performs general office duties, including answering emails, greeting customers, data entry, filing, and other general duties as assigned
  • Create process maps and workflows for managed processes
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four years of relevant experience; or an associate degree plus two years of experience; or a bachelor's degree is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to operate office equipment, including printers, scanners, and telephones.
  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including Windows and Excel.
  • Ability to discreetly handle confidential information.
  • Skilled with ten-key and keyboarding.
  • Basic math skills.
