Overview

The USU Employee Wellness Program, Be Well, is looking for a passionate, enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Employee Wellness Assistant Manager (Program Assistant SR). The successful applicant will be directly responsible for the continued development and implementation of USU Be Well fitness and health programs for USU employees. The incumbent will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Employee Wellness Center including staff development and training as well as promotion of our personal training program, group fitness class programs, and other Wellness programs. This position is a key member of the Employee Wellness team and will work closely with the Employee Wellness Manager in achieving our goal of "Creating a Culture of Wellness at Utah State University".

Responsibilities

Program Management:


• Provide clear and consistent leadership for the direction and development of programs within the Employee Wellness Center in adherence to the Employee Wellness Programs stated overall goals and objectives.
• Research and create new and innovative programs that are engaging to our target population of employees and their spouses.
• Assess outcomes of current programs through the collection of data relating to engagement and participation as well as financial implications.
• Maintain inventory of Employee Wellness Center supplies and equipment.
• Assist with creating growth and development planning.
• Assist with marketing and promotion of classes and programs.

 

Personnel Management:


• Provide training for and evaluations of staff of trainers and instructors and other support staff.
• Assist in recruitment and hiring of trainers and instructors.
• Coordinate scheduling of employees to ensure proper coverage of Employee Wellness Center as well as classes, personal training, fitness assessments, etc.
• Ensure staff is current with all instructional certification as well as BLS certification.
• Ensure proper time keeping and time management of all employees.

 

Budget Management:


• Maintain current budget figures for Employee Wellness Center including payroll expense, repair and replacement of equipment, and maintenance of the facility.
• Coordinate purchases of small equipment and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records for workflow reporting.

 

Special Projects:


• Help coordinate annual events such as Flu shot clinic, Wellness Expo, and lunch and learn events throughout the year.
• Coordinate with other departments as needed to assist with special events or projects.
• Manage Be Well Rewards submissions and database.
• Assist with Employee Wellness program projects.
• May teach academic courses as necessary within the Kinesiology & Health Sciences department related to Corporate Wellness or other subjects.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university, preferably with a major in Exercise Science, Corporate Wellness, Health Promotion, or a related field OR 4 years of related experience OR an equivalent combination.
  • ACSM CPT, NSCA CPT, ACE Personal Trainer or similar certification OR ability to become certified within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS, CPR, First Aid Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Exercise Science or similar field.
  • Advanced ACSM or NSCA certification - CEP or CSCS.
  • 2+ Years management experience supervising staff of personal trainers or group fitness instructors.
  • Experience working in a corporate wellness setting.

  • Provide excellent customer experience for our employees and their significant others.
  • Innovate and create engaging programs.
  • Work individually and as a part of a group to problem solve, and meet goals and objectives
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with many departments and stakeholders.
  • Work various hours, including early morning or evening hours.
  • Communicate timely and effectively by phone and email regarding program questions.
