Overview

The Venue Operations Team Leader II (Team Leader Facilities II) works under the direction of a Coordinator to organize the cleaning/maintenance activities in areas across campus that are impacted by events and special projects. This position will require a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays. The employee will be assisting crews in buildings across campus as dictated by events.  This includes but is not limited to  event preparation, event-support, and returning the venue to pre-event condition.  They also assist other Facilities Maintenance crews with events and projects including the project crew, moving crew, window crew, etc.  

 

Schedule Monday-Friday 7am to 3:30pm.  Must be willing to adjust schedule to cover events on nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Leads and supervises crew to accomplish daily tasks in support of campus events under the direction of a coordinator.
• Assists in services performed before, during, and after events.
• Assists with the training and organizing of clean-up groups at events.
• Ensures that safety protocols and proper cleaning practices/standards are being followed by crew members and clean-up groups.
• Supports coordinator in the training of full and part-time employees.
• Assists with daily cleaning and maintenance when needed.
• Assists in the removal of snow and ice from all exits, entrances, fire escape exits, and handicap ramps in assigned venues.
• Works with internal and external customers to ensure that event needs are met.
• Promotes personal safety of crew members by monitoring, evaluating, and enforcing safe work behaviors.
• Assists with the maintenance of supply stocks and equipment.
• Assists the moving crew with the set-up, removal, and transfer of furniture, equipment, and other event related items.
• Operates forklifts, mechanical tailgates, and mechanical platforms to facilitate loading and unloading materials.
• Assists in hiring and training processes for full and part-time positions.
• Ensures customer satisfaction, by providing information and resolving issues relating to products and services.
• Meets all industry and University safety requirements by ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Successful history of positive customer service results.
  • Must be able to plan and direct small crew operations.
  • Possession of a valid Utah driver’s license with good driving record.
  • One year of commercial or industrial cleaning experience.
  • Forklift certification. (If hired without certification, must pass test within 6 months of hire date).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays to accommodate university events.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working events on campus.
  • Demonstrated history of assisting with off-shift events and special projects during the past year.  
  • One year of demonstrated leadership ability.

  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding cleaning/maintenance tasks for extended periods of time (standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, etc.).
