Overview

Utah State University (USU) Libraries seeks an innovative marketer with excellent communication and writing skills to join our team. As the Library Marketing Specialist (Marketer II), you will play a crucial role in promoting USU Libraries’ resources, services, and events ensuring students, faculty, staff, and the community recognize the value of an academic library and the countless resources freely available to them. Reporting to the head of the User Experience and Engagement unit, the Marketer II is a 80% time, benefit eligible position.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with library colleagues to develop and implement marketing initiatives in alignment with best practices and to meet the needs of various audiences
  • Create and assess a social media strategy for the library
  • Write marketing copy for a range of purposes and platforms
  • Collaborate with colleagues on market research activities, including analyzing data to identify target populations and identifying the appropriate media for distribution of information
  • Liaise to University Marketing and Communication (UMAC) and participate in relevant library task forces and working groups
  • Provide coverage for library events, including photography and documentation
  • Establish and maintain a library-wide calendar of events
  • Supervise a student marketing intern

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, technical writing, communications or related field plus two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education plus experience
  • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to responding flexibly and effectively to the shifting needs and priorities of the Libraries’ and University’s constituents

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Photography experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to initiate, manage, and complete projects, both independently and collaboratively, to meet critical deadlines

Advertised Salary

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.

Salary is a minimum $47,200 for this 80% time, benefit eligible position, plus excellent benefits including a 14.2% (starting at $6,702) annual retirement contribution.
