Overview

The Child Caregiver position involves engaging children in learning and play activities. The role includes spending time with the children, playing with them, and providing learning opportunities across the four domains of child development: Language, Cognitive, Physical, and Social/Emotional. The Child Caregiver will also attend to children's everyday needs, such as ensuring their safety, feeding them, changing diapers, assisting with toilet training, cleaning, and helping during rest times.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing a lesson plan for assigned age groups with developmentally appropriate activities to meet learning goals.
  • Manage an early education classroom and engage children in learning and play activities.
  • Read a minimum of three books with children daily.
  • Display children’s work on the wall.
  • Provide one motor/movement activity in the morning
  • Monitor the whereabouts of each child continually, with a focus on safety.
  • Assist in ensuring all State Licensing regulations are followed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Requires reading, communication, math, and problem-solving skills equivalent to a high school education or GED
  • Must pass background check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to balance the needs of children of varying ages simultaneously
  • Ability to follow all safety and health rules while supervising children at all times
  • Ability to keep the environment safe, clean, and attractive
  • Must be able to understand and maintain confidentiality

This position requires moderate physical effort.  Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 25 pounds, walking and standing.  Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.

 

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  This position requires moderate physical activity, including the handling of objects up to 25 pounds and/or standing or walking more than one
