Overview

The Recruiter II will be the primary in-person source of information for students (in Utah and the Intermountain West) interested in applying to the USU College of Veterinary Medicine. The recruiter will 1) travel to colleges, universities and high schools recruiting and providing information for prospective applicants; 2) host on-site recruitment activities; and 3) create marketing and recruitment tools for the CVM.

Responsibilities

Recruitment

  • Make recruiting visits to off-site venues in the Intermountain region to recruit prospective students and meet with pre-vet advisors.
  • Represent the USU CVM at off-site events including high school, community college, and university college fairs, conventions, conferences, and open houses in the Intermountain region.
  • Advise institutional partners on USU CVM admissions policies, procedures and requirements for DVM degree preparation and completion.
  • Coordinate and implement campus visits by prospective students and families.
  • Disseminate information to pre-vet students and prospective applicants about the admissions process via telephone, email, and in-person meetings.
  • Assist with the CVM Ambassador program, including coordination of tours, participation in the selection process, and assisting in Ambassador assessment.
  • Implement strategies for recruiting students targeted in our mission statement.
  • Manage databases, including the compilation of recruitment data, the preparation of recruiting reports, and the tracking of recruiting and marketing strategies.

Helps coordinate admissions and recruiting events

  • Coordinate and implement all on-campus CVM recruiting events, such as the Pre-Vet Conference
  • Assist in other CVM student-related events, such as Admissions interviews, Orientation, and Second Year Sendoff
  • Participate and recruit at USU admission events

Creates promotional materials

  • Assist in the creation of USU CVM program admissions and recruitment brochures, pamphlets, and news releases.
  • Coordinate with the Admissions Assistant, Communications and Marketing teams to update and edit content for the Admissions Office webpage. Write, edit, and manage the development of promotional and educational materials related to recruitment activities.

Other tasks may include:

  • Service on committees, including the Admissions Development, Coordination, and Evaluation committee, as requested
  • Coordination with recruiters from other USU divisions (eg. CAAS)
  • Other tasks, including:
    • answering Office of Veterinary Admissions correspondence as it relates to the DVM program.
    • meeting with on campus visitors
    • tracking productivity through reporting measures as required
    • training and guiding part-time employees.
    • providing support in program compliance activities (e.g. creating reports).
    • managing inventory (e.g. recruiting materials).
    • performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or four years directly related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.

Employees work primarily indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 20 lbs, be able to stretch and walk as needed to erect a temporary canopy structures.

In 2022, the State of Utah approved the establishment of a full four-year DVM degree program at USU with the goal of admitting its inaugural class of 40 students in the fall of 2025 and supporting a class size of 80 veterinary students in subsequent years.
