Overview

The Program of Nursing Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) is hiring a Clinical Instructor.

Responsibilities

  • Cooperates with the Program Coordinator and/or Primary Instructor in scheduling clinical experiences for students.
  • Supervises small groups of no more than 12 nursing assistant students who are paired I:I with facility CNA's in the clinical setting. Administration of each clinical site will dictate the number of students.
  • Remains on premises and available to students at all times.
  • Has no facility-related responsibilities.
  • Actively seeks opportunities for students to perform learned skills.
  • Provides guidance and constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintains student rolls, including a sign in-and-out sheet with exact time of arrival and departure.
  • May occasionally substitute for the classroom instructor upon notification of UNAR.
  • Provides feedback to training program regarding student readiness for clinical experience; identifying potential weakness and areas of strength of training provided prior to clinical.
  • Performs other related duties as requested by the Program Coordinator, Primary Instructor, and the Director of the UNAR.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a licensed nurse with a minimum of two years of nursing experience; at least one year must be in the provision of long term care facility services or caring for the elderly or the chronically ill of any age.
  • Must be a reasonable candidate for approval by UNAR. UNAR approval requires;
    • Completion of UNAR Instructor approval packet
    • Licensed nurse in good standing with the Utah Department of Professional Licensure.
    • A resume showing 2 years of nursing experience; explicitly detailing at least I-year experience in the provision of long term care facility services or caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age.
    • Must have completed a UNAR-approved "Train the Trainer" program or demonstrated competence to teach adult learners or experience supervising nursing assistants.
    • Fingerprinting and background check.

REPORTS TO: The Program Coordinator, Primary Instructor, and the Director of the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry.

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).

 

Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
