Overview

The Utah Conservation Corps (UCC) Project & Partners Coordinator (Program Coordinator II) is responsible for managing project development, scheduling, tracking and implementation across our program. The Project coordinator will be the direct point of contact for the pre-project coordination and post-project coordination. Additionally, this role will help coordinate our Climate Corps initiative as well as our development of our A-DRT program as we grow into the future.

 

This position works under the direction of the Operations Coordinator with collaboration from the Assistant Director.

 

This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Utah

Responsibilities

Responsibility 1, 40% of time:

  • Coordinates the fee for service project partners’ needs and scheduling in coordination with the Assistant Director.
  • Schedules pre-season meetings with partners for new and technical projects.
  • Serves as liaison between project partners and UCC administrative staff for efficient and effective project implementation.
  • Performs site visits with existing project partners, to assure work quality and agreement compliance.
  • Coordinates with Assistant Director to represent the organization at conferences and in presenting the benefits of a Conservation Corps in Utah
  • Provides clear communication with email documentation of pre and post project scopes of work and outcomes.
  • Attends regular UDWR meetings and represents the program at each regional meeting.
  • Provides technical, logistical, and administrative support to UCC field offices.
  • Provides professional feedback in a structured environment.
  • Attends regular meetings and conferences, and actively seeks opportunities to represent the organization in trade related events.
  • Serves as a role model, resource, mediator, and advisor to staff.
  • Works with Operations Coordinator to oversee and support UCC Southern Field offices
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Director in broadening and developing the programs fee for service portfolio.
  • Collaborates with Operations Coordinator and other Regional Crew Coordinators to develop and implement projects.
  • Attends professional meetings with current and potential project partners, as needed.
  • Maintains and solicits new agency relationships with frequent check ins to Assistant Director and Operations Coordinator.

Responsibility 2, 25% of time:

  • Works with the Assistant Director to provide invoicing for fee for service projects in a timely manner.
  • Tracks projects for billing and maintains an active tracking of service center indexes.
  • Works with the Controller’s Office and the Operations Coordinator to track service center costs.
  • Cooperatively completes active agreements to track additional costs to projects and ensures correct billing.
  • Serves as initial contact for managing and maintaining rental contracts and physical office space for Moab field office
  • Coordinates project partner surveys across all field offices and oversees the collaboration and communication of the Field Staff to compile the data in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for compiling and documenting project data from field offices, while working with the AmeriCorps Coordinator regarding specific reporting and data collection needs.
  • Updates the Master Calendar regularly and meets quarterly with Assistant Director to assure that index numbers are up to date and accurate.
  • Meets with program staff annually, at a minimum, to assess project tracking and improve database systems.
  • Serves as a primary investigator with the Kuali system and helps tracks match forms for federal agreements.

Responsibility 3, 20% of time:

  • Meets regularly with the national A-DRT team to coordinate future disaster response deployments and helps develop A-DRT trainings.
  • Expands the UCC’s A-DRT program, represents the organization nationally and works with the Operations Coordinator to develop and implement systems to effectively respond.
  • Serves as the logistical point of contact for A-DRT deployments.
  • Helps coordinate our Climate Corps program, with logistical oversight, trainings and project development.
  • Works with the Operations Coordinator to increase internal training capacity, seeking relevant trainings for UCC staff, mentoring staff in their professional development and supervising the member trainings.
  • Assist in the training and development of Climate Corps hourly employees and future specialized crew support staff.
  • Assists with the future programmatic development of Youth Crews, Mechanized Crews, Indigenous Crews, etc.

Responsibility 4, 15% of time:

  • Attends weekly program staff meetings to report on field crew operations and projects.
  • Participates in program staff retreats to address areas of strategic planning, administration of field operations, revision of policies, development of safety protocols, and revision of member training.
  • Meets regularly with Operations Coordinator and Assistant Director to streamline project tracking, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Nominates members and projects for awards at annual meetings and as needed during the program year.
  • Helps teach, train, evaluate and coordinate the USFS Cooperative Saw Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of relevant work experience; or six years of relevant experience is required.
  • Wilderness First Responder certification and the ability to certify as a CPR/First Aid Trainer.
  • Ability to complete physically demanding conservation projects in remote locations with variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to work and travel within the state of Utah and throughout the U.S to assist with disaster deployment logistics
  • Computer skills including experience with Windows and Mac, Microsoft Office, presentation software, spreadsheets, and communication and collaboration tools.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to use multiple data tracking/reporting systems.
  • Chainsaw training and experience at the USFS B Faller level with a letter of designation
  • Experience with conservation corps project planning and portfolios
  • Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of related field experience, including chainsaw certification/training
  • Experience with USU’s financial systems and billing
  • Ability and experience to qualify at a C Faller
  • Experience with State and Federal land management agencies
  • Experience with the USFS National Chainsaw Program

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and partnership-building skills.
  • Program leadership and development experience.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to use multiple data tracking/reporting systems.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience with AmeriCorps/National Service, community volunteerism, environmental
