The Executive Director of University and Exploratory Advising is responsible for coordinating the Utah State University advising system through managing system-wide initiatives and facilitating collaboration. The Executive Director contributes to system-wide student success initiatives through the Student Achievement Collaborative. This role oversees academic advising for Exploratory Advising, General Studies Associate of Arts/Sciences for Logan and Statewide Campuses (excluding USU Eastern), Integrated Studies Bachelor of Arts/Sciences, and Pre-Health Professions.

1. Coordinate USU’s Academic Advising System (35%): Leads strategy development for student success initiatives through academic advising. Facilitates and leads on new advising practices, guideline adoption, and implementation of advising technologies. This role includes facilitating and leading the Council of Lead Advisors and Advising Administrators where advising best practice initiatives are discussed in the community. This role guides the advising professional development program and partners with USU units to advocate for the needs of academic advisors.
2. Direct the Office of University and Exploratory Advising (35%): Create and advance the vision, mission, goals, and core values of UAEA through facilitating goal setting and development of goals and professional expectations in collaboration with the team.
3. Contribute to the Student Achievement Collaborative (20%): Develop and administer innovative strategies designed to meet institutional retention and completion goals while emphasizing the University’s commitment to access and student achievement.
4. University Service/Committees (10%) The UAEA Executive Director serves on the following USU committees.
   Academic Standards as a voting member. General Education as an Ex-Officio, and Calendar as a voting member.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in advising, counseling, higher-education leadership, or related field.
• Five-plus years of experience with Academic Advising in Higher Education.
• Experience managing and supervising a team with scaffolded growth in leadership.
• In-depth knowledge of academic policies, procedures, and trends in higher education.
• Experience implementing advisor professional development and training programs.
• Familiar with advising software, student information systems, and data analysis tools.
