Overview

The Office of Research is seeking an entry level programmer/analyst to join the USU Kuali team to provide expert support and creative input toward expanding the applications of the system. The successful applicant will work in a fast-paced environment with multiple units of the Office of Research to support researchers across campus.  

 

This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Utah, with a minimum of 3 days to be in the office per week.

Responsibilities

  • Process trouble tickets, answer user questions, and perform common day to day tasks such as setting up new users in the system.
  • Create dashboards and data streams to accurately report data that is stored in the applications using direct database connections and APIs.
  • Analyze current applications, develop, update and maintain trainings and documentation for Kuali applications. Update and maintain online documentation.
  • Identify the requirements to expand and enhance Kuali applications and processes that will streamline Office of Research operations.
  • Use Kuali Build to create new applications that will benefit the Office of Research.
  • Create scripts that can be used to audit current data and processes.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sharp problem-solving skills and deductive reasoning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Worked in software or system support role.
  • Knowledge of relevant programming languages including but not limited to: SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, PHP, GraphQL
  • Skilled in planning, design, testing, and modification of basic systems and processes.
  • Ability to listen to client needs and formulate an overall analysis and effective project plan.
  • Can communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once and meet overlapping deadlines.
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to select the best solution and solve problems.
