Overview

Responsible for the general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and general upkeep of the Housing Facilities Buildings. Oversee planning and preparation, and completion of work orders and to ensure all the buildings are safe, reliable, and well maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and oversee the day-to-day maintenance requests of assigned buildings to make sure all buildings and equipment are in good running condition. Making sure all work orders are taken care of in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct field checks of buildings to identify and analyze corrective and preventive maintenance modifications. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are being applied for all boilers, electrical, plumbing, pumps, furnaces, appliances, etc. Keeping equipment, vehicles, tools, working areas clean and in good working condition, operating hand tools safely, use of safety glasses, knowledge of MSDS sheets to keep employees and residents safe.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance including but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.), using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.). Keeps work areas/shops/vehicles clean and organized.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and related systems.
  • Create and maintain a positive teamwork environment to optimize department results and objectives.
  • Support a positive relationship with residents, Residence Life Staff, and other teams and departments on campus to ensure good customer Service and that needs are met.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years directly related work experience in maintenance work or related trade.
  • Valid driver’s license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials.
