Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to join the USU Eastern team as an Academic Program Associate (Program Associate II). The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about coordinating efforts to foster enrollment growth for both the academic programs and Technical Education programs at USU Eastern. This person will develop a deep understanding of the academic programs and technical education programs offered at USU Eastern; be well versed on enrollment trends and data for these programs; identify and determine enrollment potential for these programs and set enrollment goals for selected programs; generate ideas, plans, techniques, and strategies to increase enrollments in selected programs; track performance toward those goals; and provide meaningful and insightful updates and reports of efforts, impact, and performance. This professional will work with faculty and other key personnel to coordinate and broker success in this position. This position will lead and guide the local support provided to Concurrent Enrollment in our service area. This professional will work and be based on the USU Eastern campus in Price, UT.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the academic programs offered at USU Eastern. Learn enrollment trends, capacity, needs, opportunities, challenges, and community needs. Identify opportunities for enrollment growth for select academic and technical education programs at USU Eastern.
  • Monitor, analyze, and evaluate enrollment trends of academic programs at USU Eastern, against market trends, and community needs. Use this information to guide your efforts to identify and select specific programs at USU Eastern that present enrollment growth opportunities and/or need specific attention to foster enrollment growth. Make necessary adjustments to selected academic programs and develop and implement new plans and strategies in response to these academic enrollment growth opportunities.
  • Set enrollment goals for selected programs and establish metrics to track these goals and performance.
  • Develop and implement enrollment plans and strategies tailored to selected academic and technical education programs at USU Eastern with the primary goal to grow enrollment in these selected academic programs.
  • Build a framework and structure at Eastern to broker faculty engagement in the designed enrollment efforts, plans, and strategies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate these enrollment efforts between high schools, faculty, staff, USU system recruitment territory managers, and student ambassadors.
  • Organize opportunities for faculty to attend college fairs, open houses, and community events to promote specific USU Eastern academic programs and/or plan meaningful events to promote engagement between faculty and prospective students.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to plan, promote, and gather information that will support enrollment efforts and opportunities in strategic locations and with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with faculty, departments, and marketing to develop and update program materials to be communicated and utilized in these recruitment efforts.
  • Develop and implement communication plans and follow-up strategies with prospective students for these academic programs.
  • Develop a calendar of key events and enrollment opportunities for the academic year. Communicate and invite faculty, staff, and students to participate in these events and enrollment opportunities.
  • Build lists of prospective students for selected academic programs and work with faculty and key personnel to develop communication, outreach, invitations, and information about these programs to send to students on these lists. Work with these key stakeholders to get students excited to enroll in these academic programs at USU Eastern.
  • Track and report on enrollment goals, trends, progress, impact, challenges, activities, successes, applications, and number of students enrolling in selected academic programs. Use this data and information to inform and direct ongoing decisions and work.
  • Focus on building relationships with key stakeholders that will help drive this work. Understand their needs, struggles, challenges, and opportunities. Take advantage of this information to grow the enrollment of selected academic programs at USU Eastern and to guide your work.
  • Engage in other relationships that promotes, highlights, brands, and creates interest in academic and tech education programs at USU Eastern. These opportunities could include, but are not limited to Concurrent Enrollment offerings and academic pathways; USU promotion and relationship building in the elementary schools, middle schools, and high school classrooms; and build community relationships to grow program enrollments to match community workforce needs.
  • Plan, develop, and implement programming to promote and increase academic and technical education awareness within the elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and within the Concurrent Enrollment structure. Work with these students, teachers, administrators, and families to get them excited and interested in studying at USU Eastern.
  • Lead and guide the local support provided to Concurrent Enrollment in our service area
  • Provide excellent customer service and portray USU Eastern in a positive light.
  • Work to build the USU Eastern brand and increase our academic reputation/recognition within the community, high schools, state, and region. Highlight the successes of these programs and get students and parents excited to be part of these academic opportunities and see the educational advantages of these programs.
  • Work closely with key personnel to stay current on policies, procedures, laws, and best practice pertaining to the academic programs at USU Eastern.
  • Comply with all federal, state and USU policies, including federal privacy laws (FERPA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of relevant work experience; or a master’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of research and information gathering methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of grant development, implementation, budgeting, fiscal control, and reporting.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Skilled at records maintenance.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Program specific knowledge, skills, and abilities as described in recruitment notice.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision making, problem solving, and discretion as work is varied and may be undefined.
