Overview

The Athletics Department at Utah State University is seeking a dedicated and organized Coordinator I to assist in the day-to-day operations of the Equipment Room for our fifteen Olympic Sports. This role, under the direction of the Director of Olympic Sports Equipment, will involve overseeing practice and game setups, maintaining equipment standards, and managing inventory. This position requires a commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with coaches, staff, and student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all practice and game setup/breakdown, providing guidance to student equipment staff.
  • Ensure the equipment room is organized, clean, and safe.
  • Preparing facilities for tours and recruiting visits, including photo shoots.
  • Assist the Director of Olympic Sports Equipment with the uniforms and apparel allotment, ensuring proper sizing and maintenance.
  • Assist in planning and budgeting equipment orders for Olympic Sports, working closely with coaches.
  • Submit “At Once” and “Future” orders for Nike apparel and footwear through suppliers for assigned sports.
  • Select, fit, distribute, collect, inspect, and maintain equipment to meet safety standards, collaborating with coaches on current and future needs.
  • Coordinate the embellishment of apparel with school logos for assigned Olympic sports teams.
  • Assemble and distribute team gear packages for assigned teams.
  • Set up and clean shower towels for visiting teams and officials during home events for assigned sports.
  • Manage inventory using equipment inventory software, conducting pre-and postseason inventory and addressing mid-season shortages.
  • Provide logistical support for practices and games, responding to emergencies and coordinating facility requirements.
  • Support inventory management and distribution of Letterman Awards (e.g., jackets and blankets)
  • Supervise the Spectrum Arena laundry facility, ensuring washers, dryers, and laundry chemicals are maintained. 
  • Perform additional assignments and projects as directed by Olympic Sports’s Director of Equipment Operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of equipment management experience.
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Commitment to ethical principles and student-athlete welfare.
  • Willingness and availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to adhere to USU Travel and Driving policies.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA, Mountain West Conference, Pac 12, and Utah State University policies and regulations.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of equipment management experience at the NCAA Division I level.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficiency in SportSoft Inventory Software or similar systems.
  • Athletic Equipment Manager Association (AEMA) certification, or willingness to pursue certification within one year.
