Overview

The Admissions Officer (Admissions Associate) is responsible for the timely, accurate processing of undergraduate admissions applications and decisions. Please note that the position works more with student applications and transcripts than with students directly. The successful applicant must be friendly and enjoy serving students, accurate and detail oriented, self-motivated, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced office as a selfless team member.

 

This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Utah.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that application materials move through the various admissions processes in an accurate, timely manner.
  • Counsel with prospective students and help them complete the admissions process.
  • Data entry of application materials.
  • Request missing information from applicants.
  • Evaluate high school and college transcripts.
  • Evaluate applications and make admissions decisions.
  • Evaluate residency status of applicants.
  • Assist other USU department personnel with admissions issues.
  • Troubleshoot problems.
  • Additional duties include answering phones, helping with the front counter, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Admissions Office.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience or an associate degree/technical training is required. 
  • Friendly and service oriented with excellent customer service skills
  • Must enjoy working with students and as a selfless member of a team
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced office environment
  • Enjoy repetitive work
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Deductive reasoning, problem solving, and prioritizing skills
  • Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills
  • Computer skills including, but are not limited to, Windows and word processing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four years related office support work OR an associates degree plus two years of office support work OR a bachelor's degree
  • Extensive experience working with a computer information system
  • Extensive customer service experience
  • Utah State University and/or Utah State University Eastern experience
