Overview

P/T Supervisors are expected to handle the day-to-day challenges of our department and should continuously be looking for opportunities to learn. They must be comfortable taking on responsibilities as well as delegating them. P/T Supervisors understand that customer satisfaction always takes priority and that efficient restaurant operations make that possible. They are friendly, positive, and enthusiastic.

Responsibilities

  • Positions in this role prepare and cook food such as meat, fish, poultry, puddings, sauces, gravies and soup according to menu and number of people being served
  • Determine type & amount of ingredients which may be substituted in recipe;
  • Evaluate food for quality, quantity, appearance, temperature and taste; and perform related work as required.
  • The basic purpose of this work is to perform large-scale quantity cooking in a school, hospital or other institution.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have thorough knowledge of all Health and Food safety standards and effectively enforce these standards.
  • Familiar with all “Dining and Event Services Policies and Procedures” and effectively enforces all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Open Availability is a must. Need to be able to work breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekends.
  • Lead each shift by delegating duties, assigning tasks, and assessing follow through of staff.
  • Assist in monitoring the training and development of new employees on shift.
  • Communicates any employee performance issues or concerns with Chef De Cuisine and/or Sous Chef.
  • Maintains Dining Services standards of quality.
  • Proficient in each area of the restaurant and able to assist where needed.
  • Roasts, fries, boils, broils and seasons, meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, and other foods required for daily meals.
  • Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipe, using kitchen utensils and equipment, to prepare soups, salads, desserts, dressings, gravies, sauces, stews, etc.

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects.  Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
