Overview

The Marketing Coordinator (Program Associate) for the Create Better Health SNAP-Ed program plays a critical role in developing, coordinating, and evaluating social marketing efforts to promote the program's objectives. This individual will lead innovative campaigns, collaborate with diverse teams, and ensure consistency and alignment across various initiatives. The role combines strategic planning, content creation, training, and administrative tasks to support the program’s statewide mission.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct formative evaluations and market testing to design impactful statewide and local social marketing campaigns and county marketing strategies.
  • Develop and refine social marketing materials that align with SNAP-Ed objectives and are tailored to specific audience segments.
  • Explore innovative platforms and channels to deliver effective messages.
  • Utilize process evaluation to enhance campaign implementation and reach.
  • Align social marketing efforts with Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) changes and direct education efforts for a comprehensive program model.
  • Facilitate monthly meetings with social marketing team members, including monthly 1:1 and monthly team collaboration meetings.
  • Provide internal live and self-paced trainings for the social marketing team and statewide in-services on marketing strategies and tools, including Canva and social media trends.
  • Perform visual audits of social media platforms and troubleshoot Canva and Facebook Meta-related issues.
  • Supervise the social marketing team, including performance reviews and task delegation.
  • Oversee the marketing team’s master schedule collaboration.
  • Manage and host the "Hunger Solutions in Utah" podcast, including content creation, promotion, and guest coordination.
  • Develop and maintain job aides, social media content calendars, and tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure accessibility of content, including managing platform credentials and providing relevant training resources.
  • Prepare for and actively engage in state office and programming meetings, ensuring timely follow-up on assignments.
  • Approve timecards and submit necessary financial documentation via ServiceNow.
  • Conduct an annual review of program objectives and priorities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Identify and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance expertise and efficiency.
  • Apply new skills to improve workflows and train team members.
  • Incorporate learnings into practice and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Design and implement statewide social marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure marketing efforts align with grant guidelines.
  • Support direct education and PSE marketing needs via social media.
  • Collaborate and coordinate efforts with other Create Better Health (CBH) program area state team. coordinators, support to the CBH Director, county faculty, and program ambassadors.
  • Coordinate efforts for the Create Better Health grant and reports as needed.
  • Present marketing trainings at annual conferences and at monthly statewide in services (ZOOM) as assigned.
  • Update current programs and initiatives, utilizing program graphic designers.
  • Oversight of public facing websites

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Four years of experience or a bachelor's degree is required.
  • SNAP-Ed Experience: A minimum accumulation of 2 years working with SNAP-Ed programming
  • Experience in social media management, content creation, and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in Canva, Facebook Meta, PEARS, and other digital tools.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor team members effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Create Better health social marketing efforts.
  • Skilled at reviewing data and reports for maintenance, PEARS (evaluation management systems) and ability to work well as a state team to complete grant requirement.
  • Willingness to work on soft funds.
  • Demonstration of having a continuous growth and quality improvement mindset.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.

     

  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.

     

  • Must be highly organized with knowledge and experience in office and team management principles and procedures.

  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.

  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.

Written communication: Ability to create, compose, edit, and adapt written materials in a clear and effective way to reach the needs of the intended audience.

Verbal communication: Both comfortable and willing to communicate with colleagues in an effective way to build a healthy work environment and lead efficient team projects.

The Create Better Health Utah (SNAP-Ed) program is a partnership of Utah State University Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Sciences Department (NDFS), Cooperative Extension Services (CES), Utah Department of Workforce Services (DWS), and other collaborating agencies, 8 including Utah’s State Nutrition Action Coalition (SNAC). The program provides nutrition education and obesity prevention interventions to low-income individuals in all 29 counties in the state, including online and/or face-to-face classes, digital/virtual education, Policy, Systems and Environment (PSE), Social Marketing, Indirect Education, and partnerships/coalition work: Evidence has shown that the Create Better Health Utah (SNAP-Ed) program addresses food insecurity, while increasing healthy habits and decreasing obesity.
