Overview

Conduct maintenance of Parking and Transportation equipment and parking lots. Oversee the training, scheduling, and supervising of part time maintenance and event staff. Assist the Event Coordinator with all parking related event management on campus.

Responsibilities

Conducts maintenance of Parking and Transportation equipment and parking lots. (70%):

  • Perform annual, quarterly, monthly, and daily maintenance on parking equipment.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a preventative maintenance program.
  • Ensure parking lots are well maintained, clean and safe.
  • Ensure that parking lot signage information is current and easily accessible to drivers.
  • Manages contracts for cleaning the parking structures.
  • Be on call for snow removal and complete snow and ice removal shifts in the winter.
  • Supervise part-time cleaning and maintenance staff.

Assist the Events Coordinator with the Event Management (15%):

  • Direct and supervise employees at special events.
  • Manage event in absence of Event Coordinator.
  • Delegate the setup cones, barricades, and signage for special events.
  • Provide direct support to the Director by completing special assignments and projects as needed.

Oversee the sign shop for Parking and Transportation Department (15%):

  • Learn and maintain the sign making software to produce high-quality signage.
  • Create parking/traffic signs upon request.
  • Responsible for the installation of new signage and the replacement of damaged or outdated signs.
  • Order and maintain inventory for materials needed for sign production.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Six years of experience; or an associate degree plus four years of experience; or a bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Reasoning Ability:
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills:
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a general knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Other Skills and Abilities:
    • Team-Player.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively in a multi-tasked environment.
    • Knowledge of USU Policy and Procedures.
  • Other Qualifications:
    • Must be able to work overtime to assist with various events from August to March on an annual basis.
    • Must be comfortable using two-way radios.
