Overview

Utah State University (USU) Extension in Juab County is seeking a dynamic, organized, and self-motivated individual to serve as a 4-H Program Assistant. This position will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of 4-H youth development programs in Juab County, including club support, summer camps, school enrichment, livestock and horse programs, and community outreach. The Program Assistant will work directly with youth, volunteers, and community partners under the direction of the USU Extension office in Juab County

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, promoting, and delivering 4-H youth programs, including after-school activities, summer camps, clinics, and contests.
  • Coordinate and support 4-H clubs and volunteer leaders through communication, materials, and training.
  • Prepare materials, supplies, and spaces for program delivery.
  • Help maintain 4-H enrollment records, program data, and event registration using 4-H Online and other systems.
  • Assist with marketing and outreach, including social media, newsletters, and community engagement.
  • Work directly with youth and families during events and activities.
  • Provide support during county fair and livestock/horse events.
  • Perform general office tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and assisting walk-ins as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must complete USU Youth Protection Training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with youth in educational, recreational, or volunteer settings.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and activities.

The environmental, physical, and mental demands for this position are minimal. The employee must be able to:

  • Sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift and carry light supplies (typically under 25 pounds).
  • Move about indoor and outdoor event spaces as needed.
  • Perform basic office tasks such as typing, filing, and setting up tables or chairs.
  • Managing time and tasks efficiently.
  • Communicating clearly with youth, volunteers, and colleagues.
  • Handling multiple projects with attention to detail.
  • Exercising sound judgment in routine situations.
