Overview

Technical position in the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UVDL) with primary duties in the molecular section and secondary duties in serology and bacteriology sections.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PCR-based assays on samples of animal origin.
  • Develop or transfer PCR-based assays to detect animal pathogens.
  • Perform serologic and microbiologic tests on animal-origin samples.
  • Participate in the laboratory's quality system, including completion of necessary proficiency tests.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of related experience (e.g. experience in molecular biology, etc.); OR an associate degree/vocational training; OR an equivalent combination of education plus experience in a biological science.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Capacity to learn/master new techniques.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
