Overview

Utah State University Extension invites applications for a part-time USU Extension and USU 4-H Youth Programs program assistant position to help USU Extension Faculty plan, organize, and implement agriculture and animal science programming. Work space will be provided at the Utah 4-H State Office on campus in Logan, Utah, and some work may be done remotely.

We welcome candidates with knowledge in one or more agriculture, animal science, and/or 4-H youth program areas. We are especially interested in candidates that are organized, creative, and well versed in marketing and content creation.

The estimated start date for this position is flexible with an approximate start date of July 20, 2023. Hours are flexible to work with class schedules.

This position is telework eligible within the state of Utah. 

Responsibilities

  • Support USU Extension professionals in developing and distributing written materials related to agriculture and animal science programs.
  • Assist Utah 4-H Marketing and Social Media staff with scheduling posts, content creation, and maintaining accurate information on website
  • Respond to requests, office visits, telephone calls, emails and correspondence promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with fundraising, development, and donor communication
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of various 4-H events, year round.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to plan, organize and direct educational programs
  • Experience in teaching adult and/or youth audiences
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to travel throughout state as needed

Skills and Experience with:

  • Marketing, teaching, and community engagement via Social media
  • Graphic design and content creation including writing blog posts, designing flyers, and curricula.
  • Program development, delivery, and/or evaluation related to agriculture, animal science, and/or 4-H youth development activities
  • Conducting needs assessments to track persistent and emerging community issues and problems
  • Recruiting, supervising, and working with volunteers
  • Public speaking and presenting information, research, and program impacts at local, state, and national conferences and events
  • Prior experience with the Land Grant University System
