Overview

The Utah State University Office of Admissions seeks an energetic, student‑oriented individual to join our Recruitment Team as the Admissions Specialist for the Kaysville campus, serving the Brigham/Tremonton/Kaysville region. This position is primarily responsible for recruitment efforts within Davis, Weber, and Box Elder counties and will office at USU Kaysville. The role requires excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to work effectively with prospective students, parents, community partners, high school counselors, and USU departments.

 

Recruitment at USU is a team effort. The successful candidate will be instrumental in recruiting targeted student populations, exploring growth markets, and building relationships across USU’s statewide system. The candidate must be a self‑starter who works well independently and in a team environment.

 

This position allows flexibility in the work schedule and can accommodate slight variations to traditional business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. Travel throughout the territory is expected, with occasional trips to Logan and other statewide locations.

Responsibilities

Territory Management

  • Create a clear vision, identify growth opportunities, set goals, and track progress for Davis, Weber, and Box Elder counties, with a primary focus on USU Kaysville.
  • Build relationships with students, parents, high school counselors and administrators, community members, alumni, and other constituents within the territory.
  • Assist prospective students through the admissions, scholarship, and enrollment processes at Utah State University. This includes working with all types of students: first time, returning, transfer, graduate, traditional and nontraditional students.
  • Serve as the primary admissions point of contact for USU Kaysville, Brigham City, and Tremonton campuses, managing recruitment records and communications.
  • Engage and integrate with local organizations, businesses, and governmental entities to raise awareness of USU opportunities.

Recruitment Event Involvement

  • Initiate, plan, and facilitate on‑ and off‑campus recruitment events such as high school visits, Utah Higher Education Days (UHED), open houses, collaborations with USU Extension, seasonal events like the Scarecrow/Pumpkin Walk, transfer information sessions, graduate student recruitment events, and counselor programs.
  • Participate in statewide recruitment events (e.g., True Blue Days, Counselor Conferences).

Student Ambassador Advising

  • Participate in the Ambassador Scholarship Program application review and selection process.
  • Lead, support, and advise student ambassadors based at USU Kaysville and regional campuses.
  • Plan and facilitate ambassador trainings and events, including Ambassador Academy and regional retreats.

Community Engagement and Marketing

  • Serve as content manager for USU Kaysville social media accounts, promoting campus programs and events.
  • Sit on the Kaysville Marketing Committee to provide input on promotional strategies.
  • Collaborate with advancement, alumni, and development teams on fundraising and scholarship initiatives.
  • USU presence at local businesses and events to promote USU events, activities and outreach.
  • Represent USU at Davis Chamber of Commerce meetings and activities, promoting university programs, events, and community partnerships.

Administrative Support

  • Provide support for departmental projects and perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Assist in office duties as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus two years of related experience; OR and associate degree plus four years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Valid US driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in university admissions and/or recruitment, particularly with post‑traditional students.
  • Experience operating social media accounts for an organization.
  • History of engagement with community organizations in Davis, Weber, or Box Elder counties.
  • Familiarity with RecruitCRM, Salesforce, Banner, and other university software systems.
