Overview

The Employer Engagement Specialist (Program Coordinator II) supports the Career Design Center's efforts to coordinate recruitment activities and employer engagement for Utah State University. The Employer Engagement Specialist cultivates and manages relationships with employers to expand internship and employment opportunities for USU students. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role plays a key part in executing employer engagement strategies, coordinating recruitment events, and ensuring a high-quality experience for employer partners. The Employer Engagement Specialist works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support the university's career readiness and workforce development goals.

Responsibilities

Employer Engagement & Relationship Management – 50%

  • Assist in implementing strategic employer engagement plans developed by the Executive Director.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers across industries to promote student hiring.
  • Serve as a primary contact for employer inquiries, ensuring timely and professional communication.
  • Conduct outreach to new employers and maintain regular engagement with existing partners.

Event Planning & Coordination – 25%

  • Plan and execute employer-facing events such as career fairs, information sessions, and networking events.
  • Coordinate logistics for on-campus and virtual recruiting activities.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff to promote events and employer opportunities to students and faculty.

Collaboration & Support – 20%

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to align employer outreach with academic programs and student interests.
  • Partner with faculty, student organizations, and alumni relations to support employer engagement initiatives.
  • Represent the Career Design Center at campus and community events as needed.

Data & Reporting – 5%

  • Track employer engagement activities and student outcomes.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Assistant Director to inform strategic planning.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, higher education, or a related field and 2 years of experience in employer relations, career services, recruiting, or a related area; OR an equivalent combination of education plus experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders including employers, students, and faculty.
  • Experience planning and managing events with attention to detail and timelines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Awareness of labor market trends and employer recruitment practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a university or student-facing environment.
  • Familiarity with career services platforms such as Handshake and CRM tools like Salesforce.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. Frequent travel within Utah. Occasional regional and national travel.
