Overview

The Annual Giving Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the university’s fundraising efforts by working in collaboration with the Annual Giving team to develop and execute strategies for annual giving programs.  The primary focus of the Annual Giving Coordinator is to run the Alumni Center of Engagement phonathon program. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, this position involves overseeing a team of student employees and supervisors, developing effective calling campaigns, and collaborating with campus partners to enhance donor engagement, acquisition, and retention. The ideal candidate will be data-driven, possess strong leadership skills, and contribute to fostering a culture of philanthropy at the university.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Work with the Director of Annual Giving to set program goals aligned with university fundraising priorities.
  • Lead and oversee the Phonathon program, including recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating student callers and supervisors.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Annual Giving to create and follow a solicitation schedule that aligns with and supports Advancement’s overall funding priorities and solicitation goals. 
  • Assist the Director of Annual Giving with developing and executing data-driven fundraising campaigns through direct mail, email, and crowdfunding.
  • Manage and optimize program resources, including budgets and timelines, to ensure efficient operations.

Program Management & Execution

  • Manage day-to-day Phonathon operations, including supervising staff, onboarding new student callers, developing training programs, and evaluating success.
  • Create and maintain compelling solicitation scripts that communicate the university’s impact and funding priorities.
  • Implement and analyze donor acquisition, retention, and stewardship strategies targeting key constituencies such as alumni, parents, and friends of the university.
  • Collaborate with Advancement and campus partners to integrate annual giving efforts with broader fundraising initiatives. 

Data-Driven Strategy

  • In conjunction with the Director of Annual Giving, analyze donor and prospect data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improved engagement.
  • Develop targeted calling segments based on giving history, demographics, engagement levels, and affinity to the university.
  • Work closely with Advancement Services data team to request and refine calling lists that align with campaign goals.
  • Continuously test and refine segmentation strategies to increase contact rates, conversion, and donor retention.
  • Stay informed on fundraising trends, technologies, and best practices to improve program effectiveness.

Collaboration & Partnerships

  • Work closely with Advancement Services to ensure accurate gift processing and donor acknowledgment.
  • Partner with Advancement leadership, campus partners, and development officers to enhance the donor experience.
  • Contribute to university-wide fundraising events and initiatives, including giving days and special campaigns.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with at least two years in a related field.
  • Fundraising, sales, communications, or customer service experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and understand new technology and applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities, with experience mentoring or supervising staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Phonathon programs or similar fundraising efforts.
  • Proficiency in fundraising software, CRM systems, and crowdfunding platforms.
  • Knowledge of donor stewardship and data-informed fundraising, including crowdfunding strategies.
