Overview

Utah State University Bastian Agricultural Center invites applications for an Ag Business Strategy Manager to oversee management of the Bastian Agricultural Center business, fiscal, sales and marketing strategies and processes. Responsibilities

Fiscal and Business Strategy Management 

  • Manage administrative and event processes, including but not limited to overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficient workflows, training, and authority for fiscal processes.
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts and financial reports to inform the strategic direction of the center.
  • Analyze business performance and recommend improvements in pricing, packaging and promotions.
  • Collaborate with team to maintain and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze systems and processes to ensure efficiency; implement new systems and processes as needed.
  • Source, purchase and manage goods and services needed for the center’s operations.
  • Collaborate on development of all new facility projects, including but not limited to, developing and evaluating Operations and Management plans, budgets, staffing, sales and marketing. 

Sales Management 

  • Collaborate with team to develop KPIs and strategies to meet and exceed them.
  • Work with Booking Coordinator and Event Manager to identify and pursue new client opportunities.
  • Manage and grow relationships with key clients, vendors and partners.
  • Track sales metrics and provide regular performance reports.

Marketing Management

  • Design and execute marketing plans and campaigns across digital, print and social media channels in coordination with the Extension Marketing Team.
  • Manage website content, SEO and online presence.
  • Lead the strategic development and execution of outward-facing events and programs that support the growth and visibility of the center.
  • Develop center-led programs and events specific to the upcoming Natural Resources Area, Livestock Education Barn, and other new facility components.
  • Monitor market trends to continually refine marketing strategies.
  • Complete market research to understand competitors and develop strategies to excel in the marketplace.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Business Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business or accounting
  • Experience with land grant Extension programs and/or 4-H Youth Development programs
  • Event Management experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to effectively manage financial processes and to work in a cross-function capacity
  • Proven ability to manage an office; i.e. understanding effective administrative processes and system, ability to maintain a high functioning environment
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale budgets
  • Experience in brand development and building marketing plans from the ground up
