Overview

Utah State University Moab is seeking a Technical Coordinator I. This position will provide a variety of audiovisual guidance, advisement, and technical and logistical support for events, meetings, classes, and seminars held in the assigned department or building.  Additionally, the position will provide routine and specialized clerical work requiring skills in verbal and written communication and organization. This position will work directly with the USU Moab Director of Students and will primarily perform facilitator and receptionist duties. The position requires being a part of an office team, and will work closely with faculty, students and staff.

Responsibilities

Facilitation - 60%

  • This position description indicates the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive list of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required of employees assigned to the position.
  • This position will oversee, schedule and communicate with facilitators under the supervision of the Director of Students.
  • Performs customer service for instructors – assists with answering telephones and responding to inquiries, providing first contact assistance, making copies as needed and helping to facilitate both broadcast and in-person classes.
  • Handles troubleshooting problems as they arise. Helping USU Moab facilitators, faculty, other staff, and students when there is a problem with their classes either broadcast or face-to-face.

Testing - 20%

  • This position will work to coordinate tests and proctors alongside the testing center coordinator.
  • Proctors and schedules exams for students as needed.
  • Understands and uses MATS effectively.

Administrative Support - 20%

  • Performs office duties, including answering phones, directing calls to appropriate parties, data entry, filing, appointment scheduling, and other general duties as assigned. Most of this work will be during business hours, however, some evenings and weekend work may be required.
  • Provides administrative support, including scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, sending email correspondence on behalf of USU Moab, and working closely with faculty, staff, and facilitators.
  • Sorts, screens, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Greets visitors, handles their inquiries, and directs them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.
  • Uses software programs such as word processing and spreadsheet software, Publisher or PowerPoint software to create fliers, enters and retrieves data relating to mailing lists, labels, and reporting data; maintains records, files, indexes, databases, etc.
  • May provide support for departmental programs and projects.
  • Responsible for proper cash handling.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of office experience.
  • Experience creating, composing, and editing written and electronic material with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge and experience of university policy and procedures.
  • Experience with university systems (e.g. Banner, Canvas).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage multiple inquires via phone, email, online chat, and in-person.
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner while providing a friendly office atmosphere for students, faculty, and administrators in a high stress environment, with excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
