Overview

Location: Montezuma Creek, Utah

Supervision: This position is jointly supervised by the San Juan School District (SJSD) and Utah State University (USU).

 

The Adult Education Program Facilitator in Montezuma Creek, UT, works with students to enroll, monitor, and support them in earning a high school diploma or GED. The Facilitator is responsible for providing high-quality, learner-centered education that is evidence-based and leads to sustainable employment and personal success for adult learners. This role requires collaboration with both San Juan School District and Utah State University personnel and adherence to the Utah Adult Education Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities

Facilitate:

  • Operate classroom equipment to support Zoom and in-person instruction.
  • Assist with special events as needed.
  • Distribute and collect classroom materials, proctor exams and quizzes, and maintain a clean, quiet, and organized learning environment.
  • Basic troubleshooting of Audio-Visual Systems, Televisions, Microphones, and Computers.
  • Communicate effectively with statewide campuses and local staff using the Slack Messaging Platform and Outlook Email Systems.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, instructors, and administrators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Represent USU at community events as assigned.
  • Assist in planning and executing engagement events at center.

Student Enrollment and Support:

  • Conduct an orientation process that creates a welcoming environment, identifies barriers to learning, and helps students set educational and occupational goals.
  • Register each student by gathering required demographic information, obtaining a signed Release of Information waiver and Grievance Policy form, and collecting transcripts or other relevant documentation.
  • Maintain documentation of student eligibility, including proof of Utah residency.
  • Counsel students on their educational history and assist them in setting goals and selecting appropriate courses.
  • Ensure all student records are maintained securely and are accessible for monitoring and compliance purposes.

Instructional and Assessment Duties:

  • Provide instruction aligned with Adult Education College and Career Readiness Standards.
  • Administer standardized assessments to determine each student's Education Functioning Level (EFL) within the first 12 hours of instruction.
  • Ensure assessments are administered by a certified staff member according to publisher protocols.
  • Use approved standardized assessments (TABE) for Basic Education (ABE) and Adult Secondary Education (ASE) students.
  • Ensure students who have been inactive for 90 days or more are re-pre-tested upon re-enrollment.
  • Administer post-tests after a minimum of 40-90 contact hours in a subject area.
  • Retain student assessment protocols and other confidential testing materials.

Program and Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate student data in the state student information system.
  • Participate in state-approved National Reporting System (NRS) and data administrator training annually.
  • Enter student information, including demographics, testing, and attendance, into the student information system at least every 14 days.
  • Work with the local school district's special education department to notify them of students who may be eligible for services.
  • Ensure all program services are accessible and barrier-free in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Provide appropriate academic interventions and accommodation for students with disabilities.

Collaboration and Professional Development:

  • Collaborate with community partners to meet student needs and increase resources and opportunities.
  • Partner with the Department of Workforce Services and the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation to provide students with access to resources.
  • Provide transition services to prepare students for careers and post-secondary education.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to ensure quality services are provided to students.
  • Engage in monitoring visits and corrective action plans as required by the Utah State Board of Education.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting Zoom Workspace and related classroom technology.
  • Basic proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Willingness to learn new technology skills.
  • Strong reliability, integrity, and adherence to FERPA regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills in person, by phone, and through Zoom.
  • Familiarity with the Utah Adult Education Policies and Procedures Guide and all program responsibilities outlined within it.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dual-supervisory environment with both San Juan School District and Utah State University.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and data entry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse adult student population and provide individualized support.
