Overview

The USU Aviation Flight Program is looking for an exceptional individual who thrives in a growing, fast-paced environment. The Program Assistant position plays an integral role in assisting around 400 students as well as the staff for all three airport locations in Logan, Brigham City, and Price. The ideal candidate must excel in both team and independent work, possess strong organizational skills, and hold meticulous attention to detail. Anticipating tasks that need to be accomplished and proactively completing them are key qualities we value. This position reports to the Director of Airport Operations at the Logan Airport but will work closely

with all flight program personnel.

Responsibilities

Talon Program Tasks -- 65%

  • Open & close flight courses for students in Talon
  • Post daily flight payments into students’ Talon accounts
  • Post additional flight charges for students in Banner and post those payments into Talon
  • Process Academic Record Adjustment refunds, as needed
  • Scan & upload flight documents for students and instructors into Talon 

Student Services – 18%

  • Maintaining spreadsheets for student progress, grade submissions, forfeited course fees, and students in collections.
  • Create and maintain student paper files
  • Take student photos for Talon and ID prox key cards
  • Work with students, parents, flight instructors regarding flight course and fees
  • Orient new students in Ground School each semester
  • Attend Safety Meeting, speak as needed
  • Maintain international student records in the Flight Training Security Program (FTSP) 

Program Support – 2%

  • Assist with Student Handbook updates, as needed
  • Update forms posted on website, as needed 

Backup Support -2%

  • Act as backup for Flight Scheduling in Talon – assign planes, daily flights, stage checks and Discovery Flights 
  • Act as backup for tracking student progress and follow up with those not flying 

Manage Airport Keys & Lock System (S2) – 8%

  • Order student and airport staff prox keys, adjust access as needed 
  • Disable keys for those that leave the program 
  • Complete annual key inventory 

Assist with Aviation Events – 5%

  • LayOver Day (Fall/Spring), Dept Retreat, Dept Christmas Party, and chair the Aviation Career Fair

                                                                       

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:   

  • Two years of experience or an associate degree/technical training is required. 

Preferred Qualification:    

  • Knowledge of USU policy and processes
