Overview

The marketing specialist provides marketing support for the Utah Marriage Commission (UMC) hosted at Utah State University. This position is designed to increase awareness and participation of UMC programs and resources for the public and stakeholders in Utah.

Responsibilities

The duties of this position includes:

  • Creating and implementing digital and static marketing campaigns and email campaigns.
  • Attending tradeshows and events.
  • Coordinating sponsorships.
  • Creating and executing creative marketing plans, and more.
  • Some travel required.

This position reports to a member of the Extension Marketing team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong digital marketing skills including social media creation and strategy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, and newsletter production and distribution.
  • At least one year of marketing experience.
  • Practical and working knowledge of personnel management and administration, project management, marketing and branding.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and entrepreneurial spirit required.
  • Good analytical, writing and communication skills.
  • Experience in developing, coordinating and executing multiple communication plans.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in relationship education and communications.
  • Prior experience with student recruitment and student ambassador programs.
  • Strong press writing skills and proficient in AP style.
  • Prior knowledge of e-Newsletter software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, communications, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze results of all marketing and communications activity.
  • Ability to oversee, manage, and develop content.
  • Ability to make prudent decisions independently.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail while completing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret designs, specifications, and schematic drawings.
  • Requires a high degree of concentration and attention to follow complex oral and written instructions and other documentation.
  • Requires extensive work in front of computers.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate with employees, distributors and technical professionals in person, via telephone and email.
  • Requires the ability to read written instructions, complex instructions, and other documentation.
  • Ability to transport and setup displays.
