Overview

The Staff Assistant will perform a range of basic office support activities, including answering phones, directing calls, greeting and directing Students and visitors, answering questions, and performing routine clerical, data entry, and/or word processing.  Management of personnel calendars will be expected.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with new student processing and information gathering.
  • Answers telephones, takes messages, and provides general information; greets and directs visitors; and answers routine inquiries.
  • Performs a variety of routine typing assignments including drafting basic correspondence and data entry.
  • Opens and routes incoming mail; distributes to advising department staff.
  • Copies and/or duplicates materials as requested; may oversee day-to-day operation of copy machine.
  • Establishes, maintains, processes, and/or updates files, records, and/or other documents.
  • May order, stock, and distribute office supplies.
  • Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of office assistant experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a post-secondary education environment.
  • Prior experience with college-age students. 
  • Experience with Banner system. 
  • Knowledge of USU policies and procedures

Technology, Design, and Technical Education (TDTE) is a department in the College of S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. TDTE offers certificates, Associate of Science, and Associate of Applied Science options for students with relevant coursework across 30 programs found within Health Professions, Technical Professions, and Business and Marketing. All TDTE programs provide opportunities for students to gain expertise through experiential learning. Students are encouraged to enhance their education through hands-on application, utilizing specialized classrooms and laboratories.
