Overview

Are you passionate about food service and looking for an opportunity to make a difference? USU - Blanding Campus is currently seeking a dedicated Culinarian to join our team on a full-time basis with benefits!

 

The successful candidate will assist cafeteria staff with food preparation, provide excellent customer service, maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and cafeteria, and assist with periodic cleaning of dormitories. Hours may vary from daytime to evening hours and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the food preparation and cooking in cafeteria as directed by cafeteria staff,
  • ensuring high-quality meals for our students and staff.
  • Help wash dishes both in dish room as well as kitchen area.
  • Clean personal work space and assist in the nightly and weekly cleaning of the cafeteria and kitchen.
  • Assist customers with cash register sales and other needs.
  • Provide excellent customer service to ensure a positive dining experience.
  • Help with catered events as needed.
  • Assist with periodic deep cleaning of student housing and other related facilities to ensure a comfortable living environment for our students.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Aptitude plus a current food handler’s permit or the ability to obtain one is required.
  • Must adhere to the University Travel and Driving Policies.
  • Must have the ability to prepare and execute menu items to specification including following recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to clean and maintain station by practicing good safety, sanitation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Must have problem solving abilities and be self-motivated.
  • Multitasking and the ability to work in a high stress situation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours. Hours may vary from daytime to evening hours and weekends as needed.

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects.  Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
