This position is funded by a temporary two-year contract. The ideal candidate will take part in a variety of activities related to ACP outreach and education.

Utah State University Extension is seeking multiple outgoing and positive individuals to serve as Community Liaisons responsible for supporting programming and community engagement efforts as part of a federally funded substance misuse prevention project in Emery County. The primary role of these positions is to facilitate project involvement of population subgroups within their respective counties, which may include people in rural areas, Hispanic and Latino/a/e people, Native American or tribal people, Pacific Islanders, and/or youth and families from refugee populations. Community Liaisons will work to promote educational workshops, in-person and virtual programs, and other project services while identifying and reducing participation barriers such as language and transportation for under-served subgroups.
We encourage applicants who are from, or have connections to, one of the population subgroups mentioned above to apply. The number of hours worked each week and work schedule will vary based on project phase and applicant availability but is estimated to average to around four hours per week across the year. Some evening and weekend work will be necessary, and applicants must have their own transportation. This is a non-benefited position.
The Prevention Coordinator position going from (Oct 1, 2023-June 30, 2024) assisting in the coordination and implementation of Be Epic, Escape the Vape programming with USU Extension and HEART Faculty in Grand County. The position is renewable for 3 years (through June 30, 2026) contingent on performance and funding.
This position allows for some remote work (e.g., work from home), in addition to in-person events with youth, teachers, and parents. The Prevention Coordinators will support the administration of a local grant to help prevent youth vaping/e-cigarette use in Moab/Grand County. The prevention coordinators will provide logistical, organizational, and implementation support for the daily activities of the grant administration, including activity planning, training, implementation of events/activities, budgeting, and data reporting. Under direction from the Project Director, the prevention coordinators will develop a parent prevention training/curriculum, advance key relationships with community partners, collaborate to support local events and prevention activities, provide program promotion and implementation of teacher and youth training/activities, data tracking, and reporting. 4-H After School is a grant funded program designed to help youth enjoy enriching club activities in out of school time. Club leaders instruct groups of youth through various curriculum over the school year.
The site coordinator will oversee the afterschool program at a school in Kearns. They will work with educators, parents, and students in Kindergarten to 8th grade. The successful applicant will work up to 25 hours a week implementing afterschool work and inputting data to illustrate grant success. The site coordinator will be the primary liaison between families and the afterschool program.
The Garfield County Office of Utah State University Extension seeks a qualified individual who would be responsible for providing Specialized Tutoring for students. Specialized tutoring includes daily help in each core subject area (language arts, science, math). Specialized tutoring is determined through communication with classroom teachers to fit tutoring to students’ needs. During the program, the candidate will follow opening activities as needed and tutoring, academic support activities will be offered to enhance learning and improve student perception of core academic subjects through hands-on, engaging after-school 4-H clubs. The part time (10 hours per week) Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will assist with the coordination of harm reduction and naloxone trainings provided to service industry businesses (restaurants, bars, motels, etc.) in the Salt Lake region. The PSS should have personal experience and/or a strong understanding of substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery. The PSS will assist with on-site training, curriculum updates, outreach, and educational training sessions under the supervision of the program director. In addition, the PSS will assist with the coordination of harm reduction training events and program evaluation.

Intern for Summer, Working with 4-H Staff members in Piute County Extension
Afterschool Educators will oversee the daily activities associated with the afterschool program, will work closely with the afterschool coordinator and school administrators to ensure that youth are engaging in positive youth development activities. This position will be at multiple locations.
The technician is responsible for scheduling an appointment with small growers, helping install a smart irrigation controller on their site, and providing hands-on training on using the smart irrigation controller. We will train hired technicians on installing and programming smart irrigation controllers immediately after hire.
The San Juan County Office of Utah State University Extension is seeking qualified individuals to fill multiple 4-H After-school Educator positions. As a 4-H After-school Educator, you will be required to provide enriching 4-H after-school clubs for students at Blanding Elementary School. 4-H After-school Educators need to be available Monday-Thursday 3:00 pm-6:00 pm for the entire 22-23 academic school year. The position will pay $15/hr for up to 12hrs per week. This position can also be continued into being an educator for the Blanding Elementary Summer School program for up to 20hrs per week.

Utah State University Extension in Carbon County is seeking a summer 2023 technician to assist in applied research on sheep grazing effects on riparian noxious weeds. Activities will include vegetation and forage quantification, tracking grazing behavior, and caring for sheep during research activities. Duties will include both field and office work. Field work may include short-term overnight primitive camping but it will be minimal. Travel to field site (50 miles) will typically be provided but a mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use will be given when rarely required.
