The Program Assistant performs a combination of program-related and administrative functions that support delivery and research for the ROI program. Primary duties include the coordination of courses, supporting the needs of program participants, meetings, events, purchasing supplies, and tracking expenses. The Program Assistant I reports to the Associate Program Director of the Remote Online Initiative program and day-to-day work is guided by the Program Assistant III. This position is telework eligible within the state of Utah.
The technician is responsible for scheduling an appointment with small growers, helping install a smart irrigation controller on their site, and providing hands-on training on using the smart irrigation controller. We will train hired technicians on installing and programming smart irrigation controllers immediately after hire.
This position will work as part of Utah State University Extension's Rural Online Initiative (ROI) program leadership team. The focus of this position will be to provide high-level e-commerce business consulting services and support to rural small businesses and agricultural producers all throughout Utah in establishing their online presence. This position will work directly with clients to develop e-commerce strategies and implement best practices to help them successfully sell their products or services online. This position will report to the ROI Program Director, and will work as assigned from an approved USU Extension Office. This position is not telework-eligible.
The funding is for 3-years, positions will end June 30, 2026 unless we are successful receiving ongoing funding.
The San Juan County Office of Utah State University Extension is seeking qualified individuals to fill multiple 4-H After-school Educator positions. As a 4-H After-school Educator, you will be required to provide enriching 4-H after-school clubs for students at Blanding Elementary School. 4-H After-school Educators need to be available Monday-Thursday 3:00 pm-6:00 pm for the entire 22-23 academic school year. The position will pay $15/hr for up to 12hrs per week. This position can also be continued into being an educator for the Blanding Elementary Summer School program for up to 20hrs per week.

The Health & Wellness Prevention Coordinator is a 12-month position (July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024) assisting in the coordination and implementation of Be Epic, Escape the Vape programming with USU Extension and HEART Faculty in Grand County. The position is renewable for 3 years (through June 30, 2026) contingent on performance and funding.
This position allows for some remote work (e.g., work from home), in addition to in-person events with youth, teachers, and parents. The Health & Wellness Prevention Coordinators will support the administration of a local grant to help prevent youth vaping/e-cigarette use in Moab/Grand County. The prevention coordinators will provide logistical, organizational, and implementation support for the daily activities of the grant administration, including activity planning, training, implementation of events/activities, budgeting, and data reporting. Under direction from the Project Director, the prevention coordinators will develop a parent prevention training/curriculum, advance key relationships with community partners, collaborate to support local events and prevention activities, provide program promotion and implementation of teacher and youth training/activities, data tracking, and reporting. Utah State University Extension in Carbon County is seeking a summer 2023 technician to assist in applied research on sheep grazing effects on riparian noxious weeds. Activities will include vegetation and forage quantification, tracking grazing behavior, and caring for sheep during research activities. Duties will include both field and office work. Field work may include short-term overnight primitive camping but it will be minimal. Travel to field site (50 miles) will typically be provided but a mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use will be given when rarely required.
The Garfield County Office of Utah State University Extension seek a qualified individual who would be responsible for providing enriching afterschool clubs for students. Instructor Positions are available at all three Garfield County Sites (Bryce Valley, Escalante, and Panguitch). We need educators to teach a variety of subject matters; such as, but not limited to Sewing, STEM, Cake Decorating, Music, Art, Etc. Instructor may teach 4+ days a week depending on program needs and instructor availability. Instructors need to be available from 3:00-6:00 on days they are teaching M-Th and 12:00-1:30 p Friday.

The Utah State University (USU) Water Check Program offers free landscape irrigation evaluations to participants in Salt Lake City and Sandy City with occasional paid travel to surrounding communities. The program typically runs from May through August each year. Start and end dates are negotiable.
Swaner Naturalists act as the face of the organization by greeting and assisting guests, orienting visitors to the Preserve and EcoCenter, and helping them to engage in nature. By interpreting the natural world for guests, the ideal candidate will further Swaner’s mission to preserve the land and the human connection to the natural landscape, educate the local and broader communities about the value of nature, and nurture both the ecosystem and the people connected with it. Naturalists engage guests, answer questions, lead Preserve tours, facilitate interpretive nature programs for guests, and attend to the general upkeep and enrichment of the EcoCenter and exhibits. They will also help with traveling exhibits hosted in the space, special events, and youth education as needed.
In addition to defined job duties, naturalists have the opportunity to assist with conservation projects on the Preserve, participate in a Utah Master Naturalist Course, and receive additional naturalist training.
This position is part-time (15-20 hrs/week), will take place predominately on weekends, and reports to the Visitor Experience and Exhibit Manager. If you are interested in this position, please submit an application as soon as possible.
It is preferred that candidates for this position be Spanish/English bilingual in order to assist and interact with both English and Spanish-speaking guests to the EcoCenter.
The Utah State University Extension 4-H in Salt Lake County is accepting applications for 35 youth internships. Interns will be placed into positions that reflect their choice of job interest from their initial application and interview. Possible internships may include: after school programs, community centers, libraries, recreation departments, medical facilities, gardening and other related work places.
Each employer will have different job responsibilities and job policies the interns will need to follow. To ensure a successful internship the interns will attend four mandatory pre-internship training sessions.
To be pre-approved you must meet the following qualifications:
- They must be refugee or some other qualifying immigrant.
- The qualify for TANF funding (this is federal family assistance money)
- Must be 16-19 years old
