This position is for the medical assistant program at the USU Blanding Utah campus. The appointment is 95% teaching and 5% service. The lecturer in the Medical Assistant program is responsible for coordination of the Medical Assistant program on the Blanding campus, ensuring compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes meeting the institution’s expectation. The lecturer will instruct the standardized curriculum, review lesson plans, and prepare for class instruction, grade and electronically record assignments, actively promote student retention, support externship activities as applicable, assist in accreditation requirements, and perform related work as required.   The lecturer in the Medical Assistant program on the Blanding campus will also act as program director and is directly responsible and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, and ensuring program compliance with Department of Education standards as well as maintaining full accreditation. These responsibilities require leadership in both academic and workforce areas and include meeting student retention goals; participating in educational planning; program organization; training and overseeing part-time faculty involved in the medical assistant program; evaluating student performance; motivating and advising students; acting as liaison between students and clinical site directors in placement and evaluation of students during their clinical rotations and generating program reports as needed.   It is anticipated that the individual selected for this faculty position will start in August of 2024.
