Utah County 4-H is seeking a qualified and passioned youth program assistant to lead the Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriscience, & Mathematics community programming initiative in Utah County. The part-time (up to 10 hours/week) STEAM Program Assistant will provide community programs in local Utah County libraries to youth ages 8-18 utilizing a variety of resources and materials. The STEAM Program assistant will travel to the locations per a defined schedule to facilitate experiences and activities. Knowledge of a wide range of STEAM topics , the skills to teach those topics, and the ability to positively interact with youth to encourage and develop interest, foster growth, and encourage topic exploration is critical to the success of the position. Programming includes all activities that encourage or develop problem-solving skills, computational-thinking, communication skills, and knowledge of STEAM content area. The STEAM Program Assistant must be comfortable driving a vehicle. This STEAM Program Assistant is primarily an after school hours position, typically after 3pm. Occasional Saturday work may be requested to support general 4-H events or programming.

The Utah State University Extension 4-H in Salt Lake City is placing 50 refugee youth into summer internship work. 40 refugee youths with a wage of $10.00 an hour for internship work and 10 youths from past internship to move into leadership roles to mentor other youth in the program and receive a wage of $10.50 per hour.   The Interns will be placed closely to their choice of selection of job interest from their initial application form. The youths will be placed in employers such as after school programs, community centers, libraries, recreation departments, senior centers and other related work places.   Each employer will have different job responsibilities and job policies the interns will need to follow.
